  1. I heard gobbling last night, but think I was doing it, LOL. Ed: sp
  2. This subject isn't touched on much. It's something that runs through my mind, every time a slimline deer is witnessed during prime growing times. I've email an interest to Dr Woods on the subject. He sent me a nice little thank you response.
  3. DYK: Most flying squirrels are nocturnal.
  4. Last year, was picking leeks 20th of March, with the mild temps.. This year going to be more normal, after a warm rain, say by the 15th of April, on the west side of the state. We'll see if I'm right. I like the first as they are the most tender. Still have some frozen in the freezer from last. Homemade leek soup, with croutons and cheese, OMG. I also look for wild onion.
  5. I thought the law stated that a semi-automatic shotgun had to have a detachable magazine plus one of the stocks features u listed? Now I'm not sure I understand this law. Edit, sp
  6. LoL, yeh, that always get me kinda teary eyed. Happy Saint Patrick Day all.
  7. Nice pics. Bet the back straps are a tad on the lean side right now.
  8. Winds a blow'in and just shoveled 2" of snow off the back porch. Got 5 days left till the first day of Spring. Where's that Punxsutawney Phil? Got a bone to pick, LOL.
  9. I think the random pick for the teams was very fair. Hope it continues that way
  10. Grow , the rules for 2012 contest are listed under the 2012 HuntingNY Spring Turkey Classic topic.
  11. Still waiting for the red wing blackbirds return. Their late here.
  12. My deer go right in the back seat. It's only a car!
  13. Yes, I didn't get a single apple, peach, pear or cherry off my trees. March was a record warm month last year. A disaster for the fruit crop. This year, so far looks more normal, in terms of temps.. Precip. is still on the light side, by viewing local conditions. I miss the local crop. The types of soil minerals add a certain flavor to the end product. Some of the best tasting in the world.
  14. Any WNY's, old enough to remember the Saint Patrick Day snowstorm of 1936? They say sky dumped 20" of wet snow one afternoon. That was also the year of the big flood that washed several bridges out.
  15. Sunday and Monday was in the 60's here, Back to reality yesterday, all downhill. Sooner have the snow and cold now instead of during turkey season. The youth hunt is usually nasty. Let hope for nicer weather this year.
  16. Would like to use the scent free bathing products more, but with all the beans I eat, why bother, LOL.
  17. Deer become educated, hunters help the process.
  18. Never used one. Like to be comfortable hunting.
