  1. Moved a couple hang ons yesterday afternoon. Deer patterns are a little different, then traditional mid October start. Trying to get a real feel on this early start and stand placement., still don't have it right. But tweeking those stand, just brought back so many past season memories. Top it off, flock of turkey moved in the clover, behind me, Yep, this is gonna be a fun season. Enjoy everyone!
  2. Nice to see the time spent with the youth. Good luck to all.
  3. I never seen it, but then again, I don't get out much.
  4. Heck of a thing. That would of look good in Geno's trophy room..
  5. He would need jack stands under each side just to hold the rack up.
  6. Congrats to Mr. Long. Hope nyantler gets the story on that bad boy.
  7. Now all u need is a small aircraft, LOL.
  8. I enjoy their shows also Eddie. Their down to earth. They came to our area about 4 years ago, but 500 tickets sold out in a day. I missed them and was p..
  9. Fitzgeralds cook venison on the manifold of their truck, while driving, LOL.
  10. I think some are, some, not so much. Depends on when they were born. Last year, son shot a big doe, second to the last day of in S. ML season that was still lactating. Her young'ens were 3/4 size of mom.
  11. Agree with the electric grinder. We use a 330 lb. digital scale from Cabelas, for gross body weights as well as weighing the meat. I also have an old Hobart scale, that is still on the money.
  12. Full body armor wouldn't be a bad idea in some places, lol. Maybe be a play to be made designing protective gear for hunting.
  13. Watched all the videos, quite interesting; thanks for posting.
  14. Wouldn't use Raid. I know Permethrin works well on hunting clothing, but don't have an idea on hides. Never have seen a tick on the hides here. I would think when the hide cools, the ticks would flee, but don't know that for sure.
  15. 300 lb of triple 15 when the wheat was planted last fall. 50 lb of 46-0-0 / acre, top dress in spring. Ph was 6.7 last year. These radish grow fast and draw the deer in right now. They are hitting them quite hard.
  16. I no tilled in field radish planted on old wheat stubble, 1st year. Believe it's the same as Daikon. The deer are in them nightly. Last year, kept track of a farmers field nearby. The tops rotted quickly once freezing weather hit. The bulbs were size of melons. Deer didn't seem to take interest in the bulbs much. Jury's still out.
  17. Good luck to you Northern Zone deer hunters tomorrow.
  18. I can tell u this, pics do these big guys no justice. Antlers in hand, that's the determining factor. He's big, no question about that. Good luck, hope to see u holding onto the antlers.
  19. Would tend to watch the trail u blazed in, as the deer will use it now. Sounds like the only area for a good shot. We had a piece on our property we use to hunt like this one. Wild swampy, over grown, eye sticking, just about impossible to access. Still remember sticking a thorn apple spike right in the side if my face. Best stand on the property during the rut. and the deer knew it. Great spot for that " deer community room." It was an evening spot. Mature bucks always seem to show. . Might be worth a little extra scouting. There's no doubt in my mind, pushed the deer into nocturnal sooner. An ice storm ended us hunting it. Seem to have better results staying out.
  20. Always wear the rain suit camo anyways. Might be nicer hunting, with showers Monday. We seem to take the best deer in foul weather.
  21. We'll went to the bank, so I could buy my lifetime license. Figure to need $1235 to get sportman, bow, and muzzle loader. Remember when u could but a nice second hand car for that. At the town clerk office, at the last second asked if they take payments, (joking) then decided to get the ssp for $98, and push it off for one more year.
  22. Great looking spot. Wish u all the success and enjoy.
  23. That was a very nice thing to do. That is lacking in today society. More people need to do it.
