  1. Goggle it. Polyester looses it's strength over time. Studies show about 8% in 100 washings. I would also think uv rays might be a factor.
  2. Ran across this while shopping for a new tree stand. Only 2012 models listed. Visit River Edge website for a complete info.
  3. Enjoy the long weekend everyone My plans will include labor, lol. Going to get the wheat acreage in before the rains (hopefully) Tearing down an old chicken coop for lumber salvage, working with my bees, and practice with the bow Oh and maybe a cookout thrown in there, lol. Happy Labor Day everyone. Seems to come quickly.
  4. Ran through a baby rabbit nest while raking the other day. Didn't see it. Watched a hawk swoop down and get lunch. Hawks follow the tractor. Seems a little late for rabbit. Always feels a little bad when the young don,t have a chance.
  5. Mine are. The deer come in the brush, near the barn, running trails. Spooks horses quite often. Horses stand in the corner of the pasture and want no part of deer when in view. Better hold on for 'deer' life, cause your going for a ride, on or off the saddle, lol.
  6. Can't give up that easy. Throw some wheat in. Always have good success, but roll it down good.
  7. Ok ppl. sort this one one. Cutting hay 1 field over, decided to hang a stand before heading up. Got stand hung, sat down, had 2 mature doe come in field with 5 fawns. This is pretty normal as they draw toward fresh cut hay. Few minutes go by, an 8 pt., maybe 2 1/2 yr old comes in the field to browse. Doe runs towards as to chase off, and they smell noses. Buck turns and moves to a greener area of the field.Any other time, does run the buck right out of the field. Think it was her offspring?
  8. Snakes, seen a rather long milk snake? Gray with brow stripes with narrow yellow strips. Cross paths while cyclone seeding last weekend. He stuck his head up, as saying hello, then was on his marry way. My their rather big this year. Must be the mild winter, lol.
  9. More stand placement yesterday. Only 3 ladders and 4 hang on to go. Banking on this drought easing with hurricane moisture hitting Monday. Setting wheat seed this weekend. Spread fert' on week ago. Still baling straw, clover mix.
  10. No, non of the above. lol. Still on summer mode.
  11. Somehow, that doesn't surprize me. Everything else is pushed up a month. Been looking here, nothing. I'm expecting scapes and rubs any time now. The big question, will breeding be moved up any? We get colder weather earlier, I say yes.
  12. So much for 2% inflation, guess that went out the door Money is becoming less value quicker. Blame it on the president, lol. Guess goverment will have to take care of us.
  13. In NY., the cable restraint is still illegal to use. Was told they could become legal in the coming years? Could u imanage trapping in Westchester. Animal adivist groups would be all over that, never would go over. Trapping is made for rural areas only.
  14. Ahh, that nip in the air, makes me think one thing, BOW SEASON.
  15. Ya, after I posted, knew it was wrong, but couldn't change it, Thanks. I will be measuring by volume, no more than 100 gr. , for 108 yd.. Be ordering BH209 powder soon, can't wait to get the muzzle loader in hand again. I prefer it to any shot gun.
  16. So if I run 100 gr. by weight of BH 209, would the pressure in the barrel reach a dangerous level in my 50 cal. inline? Not so much me, but my son likes to reach out to 150 yd with his TC. He's using 3 -777 pellets.
  17. Wouldn't worry as much about the hair, as I would of the ribs showing. Could be as simple as worms, hopefully. Something drawing that animals body weight down. Of coarse, if that's all he has to consume is what's in the pic, know wonder he looks like that. Tough giving an accessment without more info.
  18. There's a good supply of dealers throughout the state. Look like a nice set up, at a great price. The pink really sets the tone for the ladies, lol.
  19. We'll now, this is interesting. So in switching from 100 gr, volume of Pyrodex pellets, 74,2gr.. to same volume, Bh209 powder, actually lowering my charge to 67.5 gr.. Would one tend to notice a large change in accuracy? What increase by volume, would be needed, to get the same?. Would Bh209 fire hotter verses Pyrodex pellet? These question may be reasons for muzzle loader gun manufactures to sell by volume, lol.
  20. I've enjoyed reading all your posts. My Grandpa and Dad use to take me on pheasant hunts back in the 70's, when u could bring home your limit. I raised 95+pheasants for many years, and released on the farm. Pheasant hunting was most enjoyable as we had a great irish setter that could really work a bird. I then had a family friend, serve as a mentor, taking me coon hunting every weekend in season about 1975. Watching the blue tick and red bone dogs work the trail was most enjoyable. He had a blue tick, run a trail silent, and barked only when coon was in tree. Remember one night, we had a huge old buck coon, that I shot in the head, run down the tree, about to jump on me when the dog grabbed it by the throat, killing it. That was a night I'll never forget. Always found it amazing how many hunters would be in the woods those nights with coon dogs. Lost hunting for a while with marrige and children but got back into it heavy when my kids were of age to deer hunt. Now it's full speed ahead. My kids out hunt me big time, and that's great. They bring home some beauties,so proud. Just added trapping today, having gone out with my brother in the 70's. No record in Albany of my certificate so, completed trapper ed coarse. Surprized how many, we'll lets say, experience mature people were there. They say 70% of fur bearing animals die from non trapper take. Interesting.
  21. Yes, follow doctors orders. Hopes for a speedy recovery.
