My computer won't let me open the attachment. Can anyone give more insight as to speakers and seminar details? -
This weekend plowed

Have you ever heard of Stokes Seed Company in Buffalo, N.Y.? That is the company I've used for years. I always buy the grower sizes. They have a pretty good selection, even this late. Order online and shipped right to your door in a few days. The seed is good quality. The last few years, I have noticed more foreign seed though, which most companies are doing. -
This weekend plowed

How dry is the soil in your area. I plowed and worked ground in June, but won't plant now for a lack of moisture. We haven't had rain up on the west end of Lake Ontario in weeks. Crops are showing signs of drought. Farmers are in full irrigation mode. Hard to believe we were flooding in May. -
Those cameras really pick up the detail. Nice to see some turkey pics.

Hunting Videos, What do you like?
landtracdeerhunter replied to landtracdeerhunter's topic in Deer Hunting
Family hunting is always a winner in my book. Being able to hunt with daughters, sons, moms, dads, grand moms, and grand dads. Not just to go out to harvest a deer, but to actually capture the heart of family hunting. Coming away with a family outing like no other, bad times as well as good. The feeling is really something to experience. ( Coming away with a nice trophy is an added bonus too.) -
bad video, but exciting none the less

He's a beast. I bet the TL's and backstraps taste good, lol. Could you tell if he's T or NT. Hope to see you with him listed on biggest bucks for N.Y. harvested in 2011 season. Good Luck -
Shotgun Slugs
landtracdeerhunter replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I just spoke to Charlie in Allentown PA. that heads Brenneke Customer Service. Brenneke is fully operational and sabot slugs are available. Their were some shortages last fall with the 3" KO sabots, and others. He said the 3" sabot wasn't as popular as they once were. The components are shipped from Germany and assembled in the U.S. Sometimes, they cannot get all the components for one specific shell, thus creating the shortage. He did say the the new Green Lighting shell had the same knockdown power of the KO with a longer range ability. They also are major manufactures for the military. To find a retailer, go to www. EllettBrothers.com; punch in your zip code. If a dealer doesn't stock the item, they are willing to order it. -
Arrows, what are some good ones? Anyone buy new ones recently?
landtracdeerhunter replied to burmjohn's topic in Bow Hunting
What brand have you tried-used? Are the results the same? -
Check out the difference in size of these two fawns. Notice the date and time. What do you think- Two different mothers?

Boy we know exactly how you feel. We had a 1 year old Moultrie IR camera stolen 2 years ago in August. Filed a police report, for what that was worth. Police said it was getting to be more common today. 200 bucks out the window. Today, if they want the camera, they have to smash it, to get it off the tree.

Shotgun Slugs
landtracdeerhunter replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Remington copper sabots didn't work in our 12 or 20 ga. Remington guns either. The Lightfields work good enough, until you shoot the Brenneke KO sabots. Pattern great with tremendous knock down power. -

landtracdeerhunter replied to burmjohn's topic in Bow Hunting
Stick with arrows that work for you. We're going out to get ST Epics in black from Easton at 8 bucks a pop. Feather vanes for everyone, except me. I run the blazer vanes, because my whisker biscuit rips off one side of the feathers. Thinking about updating to lighted nocks. Are they worth the money? -

Was going to start a new thread but, found this old one. What has happened to Brenneke shot gun shells. The guns shops in my area said they have gone out of business. On our last box of 12 ga. 3" KO Sabots which shot the best out of our guns. Price on our boxes read $ 6.99 to give you an idea, the last time we purchased. -
I would rather have my Winchester muzzleloader in my hands than my shotgun. My oldest son doesn't even own a shotgun, he's all muzzleloader. We shoot 240 grain TC sabots with 100 grains of powder. Use to use Winchester sabots, but are tough to find in our area nowadays.

Little worried on this.......
landtracdeerhunter replied to growalot's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
She may have worms or maybe fawns drawing her down, or both. They can be pulled down pretty low with fawns. -
The data is well over 10 years old. Do you think N.Y. has gained or lost placement?

About 4 years ago, I planted a mixture of lettuce, sugar beets, turnips, rape, and collards in July. It grew very nice. The 2 acre plot was visited alot from the time I planted the seed in the summer right through hunting season. Turkey love lettuce. Deer ate everything. The only thing that I don't plant every year now is the rape. Nothing eats it, and it spread all over the farm like a weed. Every year when the ground is worked and it rains on it, up pops the rape. Now, I leave out the rape and replace it with cabbage. We do have acres of alfalfa, clover, harry vetch, corn, soybeans, and wheat, so they have their choice. A frost seems to excell the beets, turnips and cabbage adding more sugar content for the deer.

I agree with you 100%. Our hunting methods may not be agreed upon by some hunters, but it's something that can be taught to our younger generation if they are willing to learn.

A very nice story. To share with future youth hunters (possibly) is terrific. More of this needs to be done. Looking back at all the nice bucks my two sons and I have harvested, it was all in inclement weather conditions. Some people say you need alot of hunters out to push the deer around, we think just the reverse with several on the wall to prove it. With rain and wind, you can throw most of the other tracking methods out the window. The risks are greater to lose an animal in the rain, but the rewards can often pay off. There's nothing like that special feeling, more unique, in not so ideal conditions.
