  1. They've worked their way out from the thicker areas along the hedge rows and outer woods areas here too. I always consider it a magical time of the year.
  2. I've got chasing going on 35 yRds to the front of me. Bushes being torn up behind me. Nice shooter walks to my right through the brush with no good shot possible.
  3. Got a clipper frost last night. Some deer and sunshine.
  4. I used a retraction system a few times. Nearly made me fall. It became my pull up rope.
  5. The rain stopped yesterday afternoon, so I was out there. About a 2 1/2 hour dry window. Bumped a few already feeding in the field, as I figured I would. Ended up with a mature six at 19 yards. Drew backkkkk. Did I ever tell the story of my first bow buck, I never recovered? How do you think the ending above turned out?
  6. The deer are more laid back early bow season. During the breeding season, it all goes into fast forward. I like to be out early, catch a glimpse of something harvestable. Doe take a pass right now for us. We figure the more decoys in the field, the better chance for a mature buck to hit the ground. It works for us.
  7. Sitting just inside the woods looking into a seven acre hay field. This one just had to come in for a closer look. Wind made it difficult hunt.
  8. These colder temperatures sure have the deer up and moving. I believe we'll have fawns in April again.
  9. Two year old following two doe. Looking for something more mature, but still gets the heart pounding.
  10. Shoved a dam thorn through my boot on the walk out. Broke off just sticking out bottom of my foot. A Anyway, rain shower just quit. Deer in the hole.
  11. Pumpkins are becoming high price for some families now a days. Stealing has gone through the roof in todays economy with everything. I have no use for a thief, but if someone needs something more than I do, just ask. Hopefully, a big smile is on a child's face tonight, as a result of your pumpkins.
  12. The shots that one would expect to be easy tracking jobs always turn out to be the toughest. Last year's shot never offered us a blood trail of any kind. Shot went right into the bred basket too. Found it the next day using my nose and playing the wind about 1/2 mile away. We were lucky. I take it, the broad head is in the deer. Sounds like a strong bone hit. Broadhead could be taring up the inside as the deer moving around. Could be lodged in an area that won't do much harm. 50- 50 chance. Good luck, hope you find or see him in the future.
  13. Cool morning. Yearling buck following a doe. Did a scrape.
  14. Just started to get a few showers. Headed to the blind. A few came out before it started.
  15. Suffering a catastrophic loss; desivating. Dealing with a business that capitalizes on people's misfortunes for profit using zopholes as an excuse not to compensate, inexcusable. I always say, when the going gets tough, hunt. Great stress reliever. Great confidence builder. Nice pick me up. Here's hoping you do well, Steve D !
  16. Beautiful afternoon. Should of left an hour sooner than I did. It can't get anymore " Live From The Woods," than this.
  17. Hang up the shot guns and hello rifles. The governor sign the rifle bill for Niagara County today. Thank you!
