Looks like a wolf spider. It's funny that you posted this. I just saw one in my upstairs bath sink this morning. Last week one fell on me while I was taking a shower downstairs. 1st time I've ever seen them inside , unfortunately neither survived. Lol I had a dock spider that was similar sized living in my old boat that I kept docked. Everytime I jumped in to go fishing he would scurry under the deck.

Yesterday was tough fishing. Barely 60° and wind blowing backwards. It took 2 of us 4.5hrs to catch our 10 keeper bass for the evening fish fry. Only one 20"er we returned to the water. Catch and release day for a quick trip out this morning was a lot nicer. Sunny with a light wind(still backwards). Picked up a bunch of bass with one 22"er and drifted past Mrs. Loon. My arms aren't long enough to long arm her. lol. I had to hold her next to me to fit into the frame. Edit.. After a little reading , it turns out that it could be Mr. Loon . Apparently they share nesting duties.

While this may be true in the perfect world. This is an over simplified explanation "dumbed down".. The problem that I have seen is the cash flow.. A smaller operation with limited resources is extremely stressed by the increasing costs. Business buys $10,000 dollars of gas ,profits $500. Next tank fill up costs $14,000 profits up to $700. Only an extra $200 profit but they had to pull an extra $4000 from somewhere. Until prices even out or go the other way money is being pulled from somewhere to cover the extra cost of fuel.. After many concurrent months and or years of this, $ is gone.. This why many, if not most undercapitalised businesses fail . A large or well off business can roll through these times easier and at the end of the day make more money. But it kills the little guy.

Never give up! They can be anywhere. One of the smaller local rivers isn't known for large smallmouth at all. Average catch is 10-12". Probably 25-30 years ago I caught an honest 28" small mouth. This was way before I paid any attention to trophies etc.. if I caught it, I ate it. Man, I would love to catch him now.lol. It would be on the wall !

Lol. Nope no serious injuries . Hoping you are poking fun in a nice way or I'll have to go tell your mamma and or family..

Yeap. I know quite a few of the Amish around. The 2 farms just around the corner just moved in a few years ago ,so other than buying some vegetables I've never really met them. The closest group of amish living around us are members of the strictest followers, leaving where they lived in Ohio or Pennsylvania to get away from the more progressive bunch. I worked side by side with a young amish man on a project when i needed an extra hand on a house I was building. I remember once handing him my cordless drill, and him looking around to make sure nobody was watching and used it for a minute..lol Most are really great people. I've been buying rough cut lumber and vegetables from them for 30+ years. My friend was their milk pick-up/ delivery guy for years. At times I would help him pick up and drop off all the cans and deliver them to the local cheese plant. Those cans of milk got heavy after a while.

Ha. Ha. There was an amish community somewhere in tye southern tier that was looking for "new blood". Their community was too small and beginning to have too many birth defects. Problem was, the father or minister watched.

Lol.. Unfortunately for the Amish youth in this sect they don't get a regular rumspringa like many of the more relaxed groups.

Spot on. I'm only 51, but we started out pretty poor. Lived in a plastic wrapped wood framed "hut" in MA until I was 2. When we moved to NY I remember taking baths in the tub with my brother while mom poured hot(felt scalding) water, heated up on a woodstove, over our heads for a bath. We never had hot running water until I was 10. Any time there was a hard rain it was an opportunity for a shower under the valley of the house.lol. Unfortunately punishment in our house ussually was more like abuse. As a parent I swore to never raise my hand to my child, and successfully raised a great kid. I can remember many a time where even a little slap would be the quickest way to solve a problem. But , a lot of patience and consistency pays off . I'm pretty nice , and my kids is admittedly spoiled compared to my upbringing but she is a great person and knows right from wrong. I see many fellow parents and hear them complain. " why does my kid do this or that" "they won't help, it's easier to do it yourself" etc. HELLO! YOU where the main influence(or should have been) in raising that kid to be who they are.
-
Yeap! Hate to admit that I had to more than once apologize for something I had done when I was a kid. The result of my talk with the Amish fellow worked out perfectly. They are a small community and I felt somebody would get busted ,and more than likely some kid/s.

My daughter is graduating HS this year so we have one of those signs out next to the rd. I put it a good 5 ' off the blacktop. Well yesterday I come home from work and I see it's tipped over. I check it out, and after looking at the evidence I see horse and buggy tracks that swerved off the rd and deliberately ran it over. I'm not really that mad, but shake my head over the fact that some punk was being stupid. I jump back in the truck and drive to the 1st Amish farm roughly a mile down the rd and knock on the door. I tell the older gentlemen the whole story. Telling him I know it's an Amish, not accusing him of it, and it was just a crappy thing to do and maybe he could let whoever did it know that I wasn't happy. Well, today on my way home my GF calls and tells me that a very sheepish and ashamed teenage Amish boy stopped and apologized. Offering to pay any damages or do anything to make it right. Lol. She told him there wasn't anything for him to do, thanks for stopping, and Don't do stupid things again... Kid was probably relieved it wasn't the big furry angry guy that came to the door.ha.ha

Even though, I live right next to the St Lawrence, I haven't fished it in years. I cannot keep the pike off a white spinnerbait when I'm bass fishing the smaller lakes though.
-
Yeah, I've seen times where I wondered how the bass caught anything to eat. Seemed like they just plain missed the plug alot ..

You got that right! .lol For years I thought I was too slow so kept on trying to be quicker.. It's a game changer when you learn to pause for a second..;)

I think we all did a good job at scaring you. Don't be scared. lol They are an awesome tool and can be run safely when used properly.

All good advice. Never heard about trigger on or off ? Having 1000s of hrs with a chainsaw in hand.. I would add that no matter how easy it seems, never loose respect for the saw . The worst cuts I've ever seen were from a saw. Not mine luckily(knock on wood), I've only cut my knuckles a lot when sharpening. Lol. When falling a tree, remember to never take your eyes off of it. All the way to the ground . It isn't uncommon for the tree to hit the ground and bounce funny or loose a branch that comes straight down, etc...

Nice ! I like the 2 angled post/beams in the back too. Time with the little ones is precious. Mine is off to college this fall and I'm missing her already..lol

I see what point creep is now.lol.. Last year I settled on a unit to hunt based on the previous years close to 100% draw rate for mzl. Afterwards after looking at the statistics I see we were lucky because the success rate was around 50%. So I figured this year we might have a 50/50 odds of drawing a mzl tag and if not there were left over archery tags.. No luck at all.. It changes our plans but that's ok. We were a little on the fence anyways. Should we go back to an area where we saw 1 bull (and shot) and 0 cows and know a little bit. We did find fresh sign and had a plan for this year with a comfortable cabin that we drove our sxs from. Or to another unknown area that traditional has more elk(and people) anyways. Now the plan is an otc archery tag somewhere new. Maybe for the better.

1 looks like support for a swing according to his plans..;)

Another Mass shooting this time in Texas

Sometimes when thinking about these things one needs to step back and look at the situation objectively. What are the odds of someone using body army in a bad act? Seems like taking away someone's completely harmless method of protecting themselves or their loved ones if they so choose just because a handful of nutjobs out of the millions living in this country is foolish to put it politely. -
Yeap, looks like a regular garter to me..They will get pretty large at times. I live tight to a large swamp so I regularly see 2-3'ers all the time..
