Bigger bullet and case 4000fps.. mainly used as varmint gun around here.. -
My tip is keep 25 ft chain behind the seat, a machete or hatchet and hammer, as well as prybar.. I also have a 4 ft piece of chain with hooks on both ends that comes in handy for skidding additional log out as well as attaching to a tree as chains have no stretch to them...lol
-
A video on using log to drive out, keep in mind this is 2wd tractor and with 4 wheel it is easier as front tires assist..

I have ag tires on all 3 of my tractors, I run my little kubota with additional chains on all 4 tires, this is done as I use it like an ATV on steroids. It goes down logging roads in fall with snow or leaves on them.along with the chains I added 540lbs of weight to the front 150lbs that was factory as the hills are steep. Chains wear quickly and are not cheap. The hill is steep enough I have to go up backwards as not to flip because of torque on rear tires. I also use a pallet Jack/ lift with 4x4 sheet of plywood on the rear that serves as a deer and carryall to remove wood or game from woods.. also puts weight on rear when climbing hills. Imo ag tires belong on a tractor, industrial lugs or turf tires are for lawn mowers.. growing up on a farm I have a lot less fear or tractors than most, I also never re recommend hydrostatic drive tractors as gearing is what let's you crawl out of the difficult spot you got. Into very hard to do with hydrostatic controlling speed and movement. Great for lawn mowing but not plowing or field work... just my experiances and opinion. I friend recently traded in his hydrostatic kubota after seeing and using my geared tractor of similar size, he also went to a gear.. once you use to it gear do more with less..

The weakest gun I've used was a 36 caliber muzzleloading pistol. . The smallest.legally available would be a 204 ruger I believe. I've seen pronghorn taken with them. In my neck of the woods the smallest I would use would be a .30 cal as bear are a possibility. Best to be prepared -
You should never get stuck with a loader can pull or push your way back out.. always carry a chain and weld a chain hook on corners of front bucket. You can get.out of about any situation using bucket and chains as a come.along.it having chain also works to chain log to tire through rim and drive out .

Your chance of even seeing a venomous snake in ny is pretty slim. Seen 2 in 48 years and we were looking for timber rattlers for a week in letchworth park

You can use ,teriyaki or any other liquid in place of water to improve flavor as well in your jerky..

Jerky has to come.out of oven method still very flexible where it doesnt break, it will continue to lose moisture as it cools. You simply.left in to long , I do not use a closed door at all and about 30 min a side ,checking for flexibility as it nears completion. Adding more time if required. Salt is heavy in jerky and cure so it will last long time, mine never last more than a day or two so if you have same problem just cut back on cure added [or salt.if recipe called for it.. no reason to make it last 5 months if your eating it in 2 days

I had to rent a trailer for my full bear mount.. .. yours should fit in back ok as no base and stretched out...

My understanding is they love our mild winters last decade or so..fortunately I live in coldest spot in wny and on top of a mountain -20 with minimal snow cover is common each winter for a few nights in a row.. i truly believe this is what controls them here. Down at the bottom of road while i have snow it may be raining and friends there have a few ticks around.. but still nothing like down state it seems
-
Glad.it ges cold.enough to keep.the little guys away here.. 26 years and not a tick found yet...

I have used a decoy many times it is effective during rut. As a doe.. taco took his best buck over the doe decoy.with white hanky for a tail added feature worked well.and brought the 10 point back several times till he was able to get a shot, due to his being tall and me short the shooting lanes that work fine for me were to low for him. Does will shy away. But buck come and will come down downwind and try to get around it's back side to scent check it/ mount it.. do not put scent directly on it but under it on a stick or weed stalk. When you pull the decoy you want to pull scent as well. Especially if leaving decoy stashed nearby. ( I actullay put mine under the elevated box blind or covered it with artificial Christmas tree limbs

As my uncle said, taxidermist do not make money on big bucks.. it's the average buck that made up 95% of his business. He had a specfic number cut off of heads he would take in ,leaving 5 or so open spots for "special" cases. In the end he kept raising prices to shoo customers away..unfortunately it didnt really help, he finially just had to retire and stop doing it after 60 or so years...
