I saw an old hunting video where they say not to try to shoot between 15-22 yards as deer can and will jump the string but seem less bothered by noise from 22 yards out and from 15 yrds in its almost impossible for the deer to move out of the way.. Best advice is aim at lower 1/3 of deer's vitals esp if hunting spooky deer if the deer drops you'll hit dead center, if it doesn't you still get a heart shot! the bow she has may be slow but it will kill deer.

The problem is your pushing your ethics on other people by saying it not.. ethics religion its all a personal thing. You can state your. Reasons for not doing it but that's your own opinion. There are a lot of old timers that this is the only accaeptable shot that they will take passing up bucks of your or my life time because they can't get the shot they want... which is more ethical to me than trying a shot....

yes, illegal... but so is letting your dog just run.... maybe it would just dissapear if it was around me...... Caught a neighbors dog in a trap once when i was 16. the guy called me and threated me with a lawsuit the dec showed up i was histerical.. 16 and going to get sued ...after the officer was shown the offending trap and location he proceded to write the neighbor a ticket for tresspassing and leash law,and tampering with a marked trap(pulled the trap out had my name and address on it as was required by law).. quite a turn about of events!! And the officer made him apoligise to me!!

As definded in the dictionary Bait is anything used to entice or attract so if you want to call it that ok. as defined by the dec... food plots/crops are not bait so.. for hunting purpose its not bait. There is a huge difference got to a state where u can bait and hunt(bear/deer whatever) where the game come 30 years or closer to you and eats and hunt a farmers cornfield where the game comes out 70 yrds from you and eats there till dark, and you sit there with a bow pondering why they come out there instead on in front of you..same corn???

I've gotten over 60 birds.. in 24 years of hunting.. for a dedicated turkey hunter 3-4 a year is very possible! The man that taught me how to turkey hunt is well over a hundred and is 71...and still gettin 3-4 birds a year!!

My neighbor will only take headshots as he loses no meat. and no messy gut to clean out...1 shot 1 deer...been doing it for 20 years i know of and probably most of his life 76 years old. Don't have a problem with them. Though i know some people consider them cabable of such a shot i myself wouldn't do it .

Best of luck!! i usually go for a bird in the walton / delhi area.. get there at 7 am usually back in my car by 2pm bird in hand and drive back home by 7pm. never a bad 1 day hunt..a lot more driving than hunting!!!

Another new post poped up about how the deer wiped out a guys plot before the season has even started, so for those who think a food plot is baiting how is that true when the food is gone before the season started?Its not like a feeder where you can just fill it back up!! i guess they just got the nutrition out of it and moved on... yes the intention of his plot was as an attractant for hunting , so it would be a hunting plot, vs the large field where deer can enter and exit multiple spots and not be coverd by a few stands. A feed or nutritional plot..

Steve863, so using your logic everone is pretty much hunting over bait, as old apple orchards , oak flats, farmers' hay fields are sat over and are there to bring the game in?Even if you don't hunt over a farmers field your probably hunting a trail that goes to a food source, or if still hunting your covering an area that has these sources of food present so your still hunting as you say bait. lots of land owners manage their woodland for timber so even most woods are then a crop or a food plot. All i can say is food plotting takes the place of the family farm that has become non-existant in many parts of the state. If they put a stand over it near it or stay away from it , its not baiting , landscape manipulation yes.Its like dropping a tree across a trail that has no good stand locations on it so the deer will take another one closer to where you set up to hunt , or tying down a wire so the deer will jump a cretain spot in the barbwire fence which happens to be where your set up! Bait is concentrated where a deer has to come to a specfic spot, plots have no timers like this post started the food is all gone and season isnt here yet its a crap shoot same as hunting anywhere else. So i guess you'll have to give up hunting as baiting is illegal and everything you hunt around or near according to your logic is bait!!
