  1. Thats why i moved far from lancaster... i even got a phone call there one sunday morning demanding that i buy this person a new hose as "my"fox and its kits chewed up their hose that morning. Honestly this happened.... i was dumbfounded for a miniute before i could respond.
  2. I have better luck with turnips early than if i plant them late..never seem to get enough rain in fall and they are lucky to get the size of a quarter... The deer eat the tops year round and the bear seem to like the softball size to eat from planting them early.
  3. Thats about as good as the one in the lancaser bee years ago:, A new development went in next to my family's farm. I can't remember the exact phrasing but it was very close to this: What is the town going to do about all these frogs making noise in the creek behind my house? There are so many i cant sleep at night. I payed good money for my house for the prestige of living in lancaster and a good amount for my taxes as well, this problem should be addressed quickly!
  4. Well you should have a few less mosquitos around with those suckers perched everywhere....
  5. Had one do the same thing last year!
  6. Well i got 4 acres of corn in and 2 acres or purple top turnips. still have 7 acres left to plant.... clover and corn...
  7. Have 1 fawn picture, and a few bucks from a few weeks ago only up an inch or two...won't check cameras till next week...to many eyes and 4 wheelers in the woods to tip off where the cameras are at..
  8. Happy Memorial Day Everyone! Please take a moment to think about and if needed explain to others that may be to young to understand why we celebrate this day and the sacrifice many have made so the we can enjoy this day using the freedoms they protected!
  9. Thanks for posting!! Always great pics and look forward to seeing more!
  10. Got my first fawn pic of the year...and a surprise wet tom(could of sworn they all left the county!)

    Aluminum Arrows

I switched to carbon 6 years ago and am still using the same dozen arrows i purchased back then. they are much more durable than aluminum. I use to buy a half dozen xx75 every year for hunting and would switch my old hunting arrows for parctice. Although they are cheaper i would of bought 3 dozen in 6 years and i have been using my 1 dozen carbons all that time, and am continuing to use them. Its personal preference but i am quite happy with my savings in equipment(arrows) over the last 6 years. and for only about double the price of a doz high quality aluminum. I want to shoot the straightest arrow i can and carbons have proven much more durable. i have shot 8 deer with the same arrow(different and resharpend broadheads though..don't think anyone can say that with aluminum!)
  12. I practice from 0 to 50 yards from and elevated position, and from 5-50 off the ground. All at 3-d targets. With todays fast bows the 10 yard and under shots are a lot tougher as you shoot a lot higher than you will at 20yrds and the 0 straight down shot is a lot tougher than most people think. I like to randomly set out 3-d targets at unknown ranges and partialy obscured behind branches/brush to create the most life like practice i can.(you can't always pick up a rangefinder when a deer is walking thru,or a turkey for that matter)
  13. I belong to the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the N.W.T.F. belong to this chapter and the nwtf as they are committed to creating habitat for the wild turkey as well as other game. Plus the push for childern and women to become involved in the outdoors.
  14. I do a lot of pond fishing, but venture up to olcott/burt dam for samon and trout. some stream fishing for steelhead in cayuga creek/buffalo river
  15. yep, bad weather ...wettest spring i can remember and it doesn't look good for the rest of spring either. great pics!
  16. Finially after not hearing anybirds for what seemed like forever and dealing with monsoon rains... a jake presented itself.. good eating!
  17. Nice looks like antlers are growing nicely!
  18. Glad they are doing it, 5 years ago if you saw a bear around here it was special. Now they are everywhere!!! Hopfully this will knock down the population a bit since a spring hunt is out of the question... As for shooting them 5 years ago i wouldn't of, but after having 4 3-d archery targets destroyed, grill knocked over, treestand seats eaten i'll shoot one every chance i get and the people that hunt my property have the same mandate..kill on sight!!!!
  19. Damn still here guess i better make my morgage payment after all... :
  20. Unfortunatly a mature pig doesn't have any natural predators... and the sow is a pretty protective mother....
  21. teachers may have A low starting salary...but the finish off pretty good for a 9month job.Sounds like any other job out there..start low and earn raises. Most budgets are for field houses/new buildings, new buses, astroturf... like this is important for education?? Cut out all extra curriular activities and you know what kids will maybe learn to do things on their own(we use to have a lot of pick up ball games/football/kickball.) Maybe the kids will go hunting/hiking/fishing...yes they will probably be on their computers.... Face it most kids are not going to the olympics/or professional sports..do they really need an olympic swimming pool, astroturf field, professional field house? All the sports injuries will resurface later in life increasing our insurance costs. Or are we just feeding some ego on the school board? Kids are told to do this, join this, and their imagination is lacking due to information overload via video games, and television. I really don't see a need to up a budget like it seems they everyyear when its for fluff. of course our government does this with every law it passes as well....
  22. got everthing plowed..now it needs to dry up a little to drag and plant....
  23. Amazing that people still build in flood plains.... and then usually ask for help to save their stuff..at least these people tried tosave their own!
  24. if the nest is lost the hens will renest..i've seen young poults as late as september.
