Opening day for squirrels tomorrow, will be 1st time I've ever gone out for them on opening day. My friend makes a great Brunswick stew. I'm determined to contribute as he is only one that hunts squirrels here. Anyone else planning on going out?

How often do you check your Trail Cams?
G-Man replied to Northcountryman's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
3 day to a week. Some.cameras get 1600 plus photos in 3 days.. but all cameras are easy main access points that are traveled all the time by me. Mid day is best time . I gave up on cameras in thick spots.. leave to much scent and disturbance in and out.. mine are drive up next to it swap cards on to the next. Never even shut off motor. -
I've been turned off by the new ladders I've seen ,new neighbor bought 4 ,I put them together and helped put them up. Seemed very cheap and flimsy to me , and had little metal sleeves for joints.. imo joints shouldn't need reinforcing sleeves, i have a few old ladders and the metal seemed much thicker and ladders were wider. Than these new ones.

Glad your ok!! main reason I pull 30 stands every year and throughly check them every year.. people think I'm nuts but I refuse to let.myself friends or.family.get hurt by being lazy. Cables, metal seats. Straps all.checked and replaced if needed

The key to removing stumps is cutting them high like 4 ft tall. Then either chain and pull from.top or push at top till roots exposed then pop.

I did the same bought land in 93, added to it in 99, 2003,2005 Built house in 2006, added more land in 2010, and 2019. You will never regret it , the oaks I planted in 94 are now producing crops of nuts, hazelnuts have been producing for years now, chestnut as well, ponds build and stocked, foodplots trails... no reason to leave to go camping simply walk out the door, nice the closest neighbor is 2000 plus feet away..

Lot of cameras out .... 26 right now. . Cover about 600 acres with them , though 5 are on. Friends neighboring property till he can get some of his own up and running..

Friend gave me a 1998 yamaha big bear for may nephews , that was literally sitting in a ditch for 3 years he knows of... was told it needed brakes by guy that gave it to him. Knew it was a project but it's free. Well motor was stuck, pull start filled with mud and water, got big bar on clutch and got.motor to turn , so downloaded service manual , and tested every electric component, start button was bad as was brake switch. Jumped starter and it turned so , turned to carburetor.. was worse I've ever seen, jello chunks of gas.. crazy , 2 cans of carb cleaner and it looked good. Gas tank was same way flushed it many times with hot water and soap. . Unbelievably it started and ran. Looked at throttle not.even a cable for it.. the internal spring and choke on carb were stuck and corroded bad. Even though we got it freed up it was easier and cheaper to buy a new carb. , once that was in we tested it with a wire pulled by hand , and it moved and went thru gears no problem. Rear brakes were froze as was hand cable, got.new shoes and freed them up ( nephews became good at polishing and greasing rear brake shaft) new cable , on to the front end what a mess ... needs all new or rebuild wheel cylinders and both sides need wheel bearings. As well as a new master cylinder.. more parts ordered and waiting for them to come along with missing air cleaner parts and filter, new grips and start switch assembly. But so far has been a good weekend project with the nephews Hope to have it all fixed up and done by labor day. even though old carb worked , to rebuild throttle control on it would.of cost more than a new one..even added a fuel filter It didnt have. missing the guts in one wheel cylinder..smh. was able to remove racks ,make one down leg and weld it on and straightened them out and repainted. Plastic is in remarkably good shape as is seat. We also removed electric for light bar and an old plow set up...

Radish will have 2 lobed leaves and as it grows will look similar to ferns but all one leaf not leaflets, small clover looks like small clover pretty quick after germinating give it 2weeks I think. You will be happy with your results
-
Auto correct got.me , hog radish. If your buckwheat didnt grow than th seed was picked up by game.. it will grow on concrete with water. You may need to spray broadcast seed and roll to put weed cover down over it to protect from.bird, and other animals.

A mid mount pto is not.only.for a mower but can be used for a front mount snowblower on many models ,better than scraping blacktop with a blade or driving in reverse with 3pt. Again you need to look at what you think. You mostly are going to use it for, a backhoe is great when you need one but sits 95% of the time so an easy.on. and off model would be recommend

It all depends on your terrain, if your going to be doing mulch, plowing snow off drive a lawnmower sized will do fine , if your going for 1/2 acre foodplots, and want to move dirt skid logs move up to a compact from sub compact.
-
Want to see a video on food plotting before it was a thing.. search tricking whitetail bucks by whitetail visions.. amazing what they did with hand rake and a walk behind tiller , along with lot of other great tips. As for breaking up the hard road try buckwheat and high radish.. then in spring can usually get it to. Break up as roots of both go pretty deep , when they rot its natural aeration

My new neighbor to the south proudly told me he put out 2 mineral. Licks on his 10 acre field , smh.....
-
Throw and grow works well , can do a lot with a 2 or 3 gallon sprayer , and a metal rake. Unless your looking to make destination feed fields 2 plus acres..
-
Looks like you will need to trim up some limbs in small kill plot ,let a bit more light and rain into it.
-
1st hard horn on camera this year. Broke tip off right beam.and tip off g 3 on left already.....

Black staining polypore?

10 acres , I'd look in to a CJ series kioti, or an L series kubota. As said earlier jd have own system, but there is a lot of good used equipment that wont fit it ,main reason to stay away from jd unless your going to buy it all from a. Dealer, you want a high gmp on hydraulic pump, ( compare lift capacities from same size tractors) being as it's going to be used on lawn industrial lugs would make sense, if more of a woods tractor ag lugs are way to go. Sounds like you want a homeowners tractor maybe get one that has a mid mount mower , snowblower possibility. Cub cadet is almost the same as a kioti. If you have a dealer nearby. Being new to tractor a dealer to do initial break in maintenance maybe a consideration as well. . A 25 to 35 hp tractor should do all you have stated you want to do.
-
That's why I have 3 plus a lawn tractor..
-
Tractor , no question ,I have a 7200 . ATV are not really designed for torque, tractors are it will last your lifetime , a quad if used as a tractor will have a lot more maintenance and you are still lifting objects , with a tractor you do not have ton lift as loader does all the.work just dump you mulch where you want. . It's a carry all with ATV your buying a trailer that you have to load and unload.. cannot bulk supplies dumped onedrive way and simply scoop up with bucket on tractor, and dump.where you want, with an atv your shovel loading a trailer and unloading with a shovel.... work easier and more efficiently with a tractor

Always good to see a nice flock of birdsl1 Leto

Will still out perform ATV guys press into plot work. Looks like you'll still give someone a pretty good deal.
