  1. It depends on how steep of an angle looking down at a 60 degree slope looosnfurther than it is. Unless your hunting high in a tree on a side of a steep hill you shouldn't have a problem at a reasonable range. No range finder ....If your not sure if the range pick a tree that is next to your target and look at it on your level though the base may seem 50 yards straight out from your stand will tell you its 20 unless tree has huge lean , but they tend to grow pretty straight
  2. A poor mast crop year works best , if you find a tree ( any mast tree ) that has fruit/ nuts it's the place to be. When every tree in the woods is loaded it take a bit to find the one they prefer over the others
  3. I do almost all my sets in july , final trim of lanes were done sat sunday ,now I stay out till season opening

Thought it would be interesting to show views from various stands..so here is the 1st one.
  6. Poke em.with a stick and when they squeal all the red squirrels in area come.running after you shoot 50 or so of them then you can move.nest .
  7. Metamorphic or igneous rocks are ok, sedimentary are porous usually and can explode they have water trapped in them as they form.
  8. I dont leave my stands out many of mine are 30 years old or older. ,but many people do.
  9. Looks like a nice stand with thicker steel, just not a fan of mesh seats. If you leave stand up they are just like patio furniture, the mesh rots in the sun , 3 to 5 years your sitting on it and it tears.. then how do you replace ? Stand model is no longer made .. at least with a metal fram.you can throw a hot seat or thermal seat on it and keep using...
  10. Rye grows down to 34 degrees.. so up till. Frost time maybe a week before ..here would be last week of sept.. that let's it germ and get up a little.
  11. One of the best looking coon mounts I've seen
  12. Never made it out of committee again,
  13. Some cameras have an internal memory when card is full can insert new card and it downloads automatically, if camera was shut off your out of luck trespasser took. Card to keep.from.being caught if it was left on maybe you have a chance... my guess is nope..
  14. Mentor a younger / less experienced hunter to harvest game!
  15. Just spread a bag in the rain in corn the coon and deer and squirrels tore down already 5 yard s wide and close to 40 yards long, tried to fill in again where turkeys picked it so bad , though a lot Is still coming there i hope it fills in a bit thicker.
  16. My cards would be filled in 10 days and yes in could go to a 32 mb card. But I'd still get less than 2 weeks out of it. One today had 3468 photos on it in 5 days.. . But cards are not out in the woods. Nor do I have to do more than drive up swap card and leave.
  17. Dec didnt pick the size blame.yout governor and representatives
  18. Pull card, load to pc,save a couple that catch ky eye, delete rest, I'll check. 5 or 6 cams a day , that takes me 4 or 5 days to check them all, I do. Them according to areas, they are in , around house, across street, top of hill , bottom of hill , across next road. , and now I check. Cams I put up for neighbor as well. , so. 6 spots total in groups of cams. Wish someone came up with software for a quick edit/save but I havent seen any yet, I scroll thru pic on oc using extra large thumbnails is fastest way ,but you can lose deer in background so. The is still a lot of one by one photo examining.. takes annhour to hour and a half oer check to go. Thru them.all..
  19. The regs were put in place , to. Simulate the equivalent of a 65 lb compound at the time, the dec had little to do with it , it was all legislation. The dec gets blamed for a lot but it is not a separate game department like many states whose constitutional mandate is to manage game and fish for a state. It is an enviromental organization who had game management dumped on them by. The state legislature. If we had a right to hunt and fish to be managed by a game department ,in. The state constitution. they could make the laws and regs and change them whenever they deemed necessary. Not dependent on political affiliation and rules made by urban areas and their prejudices. Heck we dont even have a season till the legislators vote it every year.. sad part is most people believe its untouchable. Yet they can simply say no season and your life time licences and tags are worthless.
  20. Seems a fisher likes my squirrel spot as well... add it to list to trap this fall....
  21. Just broadcast it. It will grow with heavy dew. Only.problem I have is turkey are.cleaning it up as fast as I spread it on bare spots. ...
  22. Some.are loaded others nothing I have 3 that are very consistent producers and one hold.late into dec. Great.placr.formalte.season deer under that one .
  23. I sit in a treestand it's a squirrel parade every am running trail on ground to a big hickory , figure I'll get rid of a few before deer season and add to his pot for stew.
