  1. Lightfield slugs.....baddest slugs on the planet. Never had a deer take another step when hit with those bad boys. I hit one with lightfields years ago but coming straight at me. Vitals were jelly and found zlug about 2 feet in against the skin on it side. Lightffields were made a few miles from me when i livef in jersey. Been using fhem since about 97. Wish i was usi g my slug gun opening day when i missed an 8 in brush with my 06. Congrats on the buck..nice shot!
  2. So saturday after taking 2 shots at my 8...and missing...i didnt hunt sunday until.....i was eating a grilled cheese sandwich looking out my back door and see movement in the brush 30 feet from my deck. Get the monocular to check his head and sure enough it is the 8 i missed. I think he was mocking me. I had the gun by the door but didnt/wouldnt shoot anyway (dont consider that hunting/earning) it. So finish lunch and get dressed snd go out to my other blind(1st sit in it this year) and a bit later had 2 does eating about 20 feet away. Bambis...mother must have gotten shot. Didnt shoot them...yes i have a doe tag. Still hunted rest of day and saw 3 more(momma and her 2 litgle ones). No didnt shoot any of them either. I have my rules...ie i dont shoot bambis or momma with them. Some say its s stupid rule...maybe it is....but i follow it anyway. At least im still seeing deer. Out in groundblind 2 today waiting on the taunter.
  3. The gun shop owner where I get my supplies uses them for bear and used them for the early season (sept) this year and nailed a nice one. Said the bear basically pushed over his canister where the bear sense stick was burning. I have used the deer sense sticks but with no luck.
  4. Whats worse is i sat in 1 of my ladder stands and he went 30 yards in front of my groundblind and walked about 5 yards in front of another ladder stand....ugh
  5. I intend to BUT all bets are off once the orange heads invade the woods....lol.
  6. Received my X-Ecutor 360 today. Fast Shipping - here in 3 days. Pretty simple to put together altho I was missing 2 bolts. It's pretty darn sturdy and beefy and should do the trick anytime I want to sight in. Not too heavy at 40lbs. and Breaks down into 2 pieces. will have to test it out when sighting in my muzzleloader. Thanks again for the suggestion Culver
  7. Interesting last x-bow day. Saw 1 red squirrel, 1 bunny, 1 weasel type thing, at about 4:20, my 8 pointer I have been chasing all season came running by me weezing, blowing, grunting chasing 2 does. No shot. Came by me at about 10 yards at approx. 400 mph. Couldn't stop him....must have had something on his mind. Ugh Oh well onto the next season!
  8. I'm at 2,050 feet elevation...always get snow and more snow than the lowlanders so I wouldn't expect you'd get a whole lot more
  9. view from my back deck
  10. it's still snowing - good luck tomorrow
  11. I'm near Stamford, NY (Jefferson) - 4" maybe 5"....just a dusting
  12. looking at 8-12" here in Jefferson (4f) then.
  13. i always hope for snow on the following Monday - that way the out of staters can't pick em out of the woods as easily and they usually have to leave Sunday night.
  14. Sorry for your loss - cherish the memories
  15. Very nice-Good Luck with it!, I picked up an AR a couple of months ago because I needed a semi, all my other coyote guns were bolts. I use a 223 Rem bolt with a photon xt on it that I matched with a sniper hawg IR light, also scoped 223 wssm bolt for day time. My new AR is also scoped so I can use it day or night. For night I chose a ludicrous lumens scope mounted digital night vision camera and will also mount my sniper hawg IR light on it for illumination. The ludicrous lumens (from the UK) is a digital night vision camera that mounts to the eyepiece of any scoped gun (which is why I got it). It allows me to use my 10/22 for night pests around the house to my air gun for mice and such. With the correct IR illuminator you can see more than a few hundred yards with it - they hunt bunnies in the UK at 400+ yards using this. I also have a thermal night vision monocular (pulsar xq23v) for scanning and just ordered a new call (lucky duck revolt) to replace my 10+ year old wildlife technologies and foxpro fx3 calls. Hoping to put it all to use after deer season. Itching at the bit! Good luck with your rig - get them fawn destroyers. here is a video clip of the ludicrous lumens digital night vision cam in case your interested
  16. Jefferson, NY - guess you could say I'm on the edge of the catskills
