just letting the predator hunters out there know that rock river arms has some specials going on (time-limited). One of the specials are lar15 lowers with regular, 2 stage, and varmint 2 stage triggers as well as a few uppers including the predator pursuit upper (20") ss heavy barrel. I picked up 2 lowers with the varmint 2 stage triggers and the pursuit upper. Will probably add the coyote 16" carbine to the other lower before next hunting season for my night rifle since it is lighter and I won't shoot as far at night with it.

I just picked up a new in the box Night Optics Marauder d750 Gen 2+ white phosphor tubed 4x rifle scope for $1000 from someone who won it at game banquet dinner and had no use for it. It is a Bering Optic manufactured scope which night hunters seem to like but I can't find much info on this guy. Does anyone have any experience or info with this scope? I see info on the gen 3 versions but not this particular version. Was wondering if I should keep it or dump it at a profit and put the money towards a better scope. I picked it up at less than 30% of the retail price! attached is a link I found which describes it more in detail https://nightvisionops.com/shop/marauder-4x-gen-2-blackwhite-gated-night-vision-weapon-scope-with-manual-gain/

pretty nifty -
I will add that most of these ding dongs contribute nothing other than noise to help these animals. Our license fees and purchases of hunting and fishing related goods go towards habitat and other positive wildlife programs!

could be many things ie. a bad crown, scope not aligned properly, barrel not broken in, bad barrel, etc. here is a link on barrel break in that might help: http://www.rifleshootermag.com/editorial/break-rifle-barrel/83604 hope that helps some.

I used to when I was using tree/telephone spikes to get up trees but haven't in years - too dangerous using those spikes at my age. I used to use a window washer's belt used in hi-rise window washing operations. You would wrap belt around your waist and the rope (about an inch thick) around the tree and leave about a foot gap between you and the tree. If you slipped you'd only have about a foot drop.

check out camofire, they have been having sales on a bunch of cams as of late. they don't have any for today's offerings, but I bet I have seen them sell them 3 or 4 times in the last 10-12 days or so. OR check out phade's offerings!

I looked at the kuiu. sitka, mt050, huk, and browning offerings but didn't want to spend the beans on expensive rain gear for hunting my own property (I don't do excursions anymore) since if it gets bad enough, I can just walk back to the house. I did want to get goretex as I have had great luck with that stuff in my hunting outfits, golf/fishing goretex outfits. The cabela's was goretex and cheap enough for my purpose. If I was going to hunt away from the house or had to travel a bit to go hunting, I surely would have sprung for the higher end gear. BTW - did you bag a moose?

thanks for the suggestions. picked up a cabela's goretex packable rain suit on ebay for $95 (new with tags) in size large (hoping it will fit over my Sitka medium stratus set). Looked at USMC goretex lightweight suits but couldn't find the pant size I needed. Looks like you can get some good deals on the USMC goretex pants and jackets but found many are kind of old (even new ones) and was not sure how good the goretex would be after all this time. thanks again

Looking for some lightweight packable rain gear (top and bottom) that I can put on over my Sitka stratus jacket and bibs should the need arise. Not looking for any warmth from them just something to shed the rain. The stratus set has wind-stopper but is not gore-tex. Any suggestions?

Sitka Gear My review
Engraver99 replied to Engraver99's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Was looking for an early to mid season and early late season outfit for deer and coyote hunting to replace my heavy 30+ year old browning stuff. Just found a sale on my size (medium) for the Sitka Stratus bibs at Presleysoutdoors.com $224 shipped down from $299 retail (25% off) and the Stratus Jacket at Dunn's Sporting Goods for $214.88 shipped down from $329 retail (35% off). Time to retire my heavy old hard to maneuver in gear and comfortably walk in to the modern era. As usual, Will do a review when I test them out when received. Still loving my incinerator bibs and jacket! Was out in -20 (on the thermometer) very little wind the other day during the Polar Vortex and was still comfortable. I could feel the cold but was not cold. I only had on the Cabela's silks and the Sitka Heavyweight core base layers underneath. If I had the midweights and heavyweights on I don't think I'd even have felt the cold. I'm really liking this stuff even as expensive as it is. Usually with my old stuff I'd feel like I was dressed as the abominable snowman. It made it tougher to walk in the snow, and gun mounting was a little bit of a challenge. I feel like I have shed 30lbs when in my Sitka gear walking through the snow. Hunting is a little more pleasurable! -
