  1. I'm so good I catch fish that dont exist... this beast was caught by a buddy. It was over 15.
  2. Those are Ontario run fish . I wish they were out of cohocton. Only an hour drive verses 2.5.
  3. They sure are ... only found in one spot on the whole river. It's a secret!!
  4. Well when I got to the river hendricksons were just starting to pop . Some caddis as well . One spin fisherman . Tied on a caddis emerger got 2 9 inch stockers right off the bat. No risers.2 more cars pulled up . Get a chatty cathy looking over my shoulder. Tells me they just stocked a few hours ago. Wonderful! 2 more cars pull up. Start walking to get away from people . Stop to fish a spot a ways a way from people pick up a nice 2 year old . Guy leapfrogs me to next spot . I work the run and pick up 3 more . Walk to next bend watch the fish rising all around the guy. Plan on leap frogging him but he offers to share the water . I work up one more fish and head home . Great afternoon. Bwo, caddis, pmd, hendricksons. Best fly for the day was a light hendrickson parachute emerger . Water was perfect level and color..
  5. Friday. Dont call me the trout whisperer for nothing
  6. Thinking I'm sneaking out of work at noon to try cohocton river today
  7. It usually works that way. It takes the first major hatch which is the hendrickson before they learn to look up . After a few days the water will seem to boil. Hatchery trucks were out last week for the second time . 2 weeks ago I managed a few fish on the dry casting a dry black stonefly and a small tan caddis. I was however fishing a section that is known for natural reproduction. The fish I did catch were small but in perfect condition and color.
  8. Way to go guys. I fish red quill for hendrickson males and light hendrickson for females. Hendricksons are one of a few mayfly that are different color by sex. I recall reading that some say male hendrickson hatch on fast water and females hatch on slow . Not sure that I have observed that myself. Pheasant tails match most of the early mayfly nymphs. .
  9. Why does work have to get in the way of fishing.
  10. Lol looks like you all have it covered.
  11. Depends on the water. How far north and temp it is about thermal hours .
  12. Lucky dogs ..... hendrickson between 1 and 4 PM
  13. I have 4 of the older version with the expanded metal seats. Looked for a new one last year and seen the fabric. Didn't buy because of it . Wife had an older version with fabric seat I replaced after 4 years . Glad we didn't buy more than one .
  14. You know I'm running short on grouse for my soft hackle March browns
  15. Congrats .. my bucket list as well. Would love to do it with a revolver myself .
  16. That's a cow doe ... she did well through the winter no ribs yet . Yearling with her doesn't look bad from the pic. I think it's an average yearling with a huge doe . We dont see many super mature does anymore with all the doe permits being filled. My biggest doe was killed in woodhull area back in 1984. DEC weighed her at 160 lbs . And aged her at 7.5 years old .
  17. I was looking at trail cam pics . I had my most buck picks day and night from 3rd to 7th of November. I have a dandy series of pics of a hot doe coming through followed by a lip curling buck on the 5th. This was in 8y.
  18. Dont know about newer but rear tine is a must. Shaft drive over chain or belt. Remove sod and dig slow making many passes gradually getting deeper. Dont lean over the machine while tilling . Them things will jump if you hit a big rock. About nocked myself out one day.
