First-light
Just bought her first gun. Mossberg 500 deer combo with scope. Got it on sale at Dicks for $299.00 She is also off to the Campsite in Huntington to take her hunting class tonight. I'm proud of her and will be a welcomed addition up at camp opening weekend!

Deerthug
Good for her. Has she always wanted to hunt or did this just happen recently? The reason I ask is because when my soon to be 16 yo daughter was 11 she showed an interest in joining me. She always told me she wanted a pink shotgun. But over the last few years her interests changed from hunting/outdors to fashion, and ..um... Boys! Now she's looking at pink clothes etc.. ants
Thats great. Good for her and you. It's always nice to see young people getting into our sport. The 500 combo is a good rig too. My first gun ( i was around 14 or 15) was a 500 and I still have it. Good luck.

Deerthug, Her Dad hunts with me and always asked about our weekends away. For the last few years she has been shooting up at my place, riding the quads and just enjoying the outdoors. She told us this was the year she gets her gun and license, she did it! I would say the last two years she really showed an interest. Meat First
Wow how did you do it? I have two the same age and one likes quading and shooting but won't hunt. The other wants nothing to do with the outdoors. I hate to say it but I do not think kids these days have the patience/attention span to appreciate the solitude/peacefulness and beauty of the woods. If they are not texting/facebooking/tweeting while they are doing schoolwork, listening to music and watching tv all at the same time they are bored. Down here on Long Island these woman like as my wife puts it "the Great Indoors"

G-Man
My friend got his daughter to hunt with a simple sugesstion that if the guy she likes hunted , if she would too he'd prolly talk to her since he seemed to ignore her, got a turkey in the spring showed off pictures in class , long story short... been going out now a few years and just got engaged... And still hunting!
