waterweasle
just tie a loop in the line, insert loops through bows riser( on bows that you can, and put loop around stablilizer, no way for it to come off that way, ground level bow is hanging chest level, guns, tie line around wrist of stock, bring the line up along the stock and throw a half hitch or two around the barrel, hangs nice and cant go anywhere like that
WNY_Whitetailer
It'll be just fine laying on the ground as long as its not a piece o crap scope. Yup, I agree with that...I've never had a problem laying my guns down on their side gently with the rope.

MountainHunter
I sling my rifle, it is kept in place by me using my sternum strap from my back pack. It can't come off my shoulder. There is never a round in the chamber, either climbing or descending. If I were to use a rope I would have the rifle suspended in the air by a couple of feet. landtracdeerhunter
I like the beer Insulator thingers. Now is it koozie or cozy. Maybe your cozy drinking out of your koozie, LOL.
Daveboone
Even with a climber you can hang the gun, and I have many times. leave the cord extra long so when you get to your desired hight, there is still slack in the rope. Just gently lift. Same going down.Gently lower the gun until it is lying on the ground and proceed. Otherwise, use a sling . Then I prefer it across my chest. nybuckboy
Tie the rope shorter so the gun hangs & doesn't hit the ground. Yep... that's the answer
