Older Buck mounts, redo them or let them be

The mount on the right is approaching 24 years old, and is starting to look it's age. He still looks good, but compared to the mount on the left taken in 2009 you can tell. Should I get him redone, or let him be.

I have mixed feelings as I would have to use a new cape.

What do you think?

You can take him up for a good cleaning and touch up without changing the cape. Thats what Iw ould recommend

take him to a good taxidermist , a good professional cleaning will do wonders! you also need to keep mounts cool and dry, and out of sun and excess heat..

I HAD A COUPLE 20 YEAR OLD MOUNTS TOUCHED UP A SIMPLE AIR BRUSHING OF THE BLACK AND WHITE MADE THEM LOOK LIKE NEW

I have a couple that are older than yours. I am actually HOPING that they would fall apart so that I could have a good excuse to get rid of them. Honestly, one grows tired of looking at these things. All they really become are dust collectors. A nice picture in a photo album is all one really needs to bring back memories of a past hunt.

Yea the mount is too small. Should have been 6-8 Tigers chasing 10-15 of those deer looking animals.

Good luck with that one! Of course if you get yourself mounted after you do die, you might be able to stick around a bit longer.

Funny thing is, there used to be a taxidermist shop that I would stop in from time to time. The owner had his dead dog mounted in the corner of the room laying down. I always thought that dog was super lazy until I realized it was just a life-size mount.

When Roy Rogers' horse Trigger died, he had him mounted. Ole Roy always said that when he died he wanted to be skinned, mounted and put on top of Trigger. Don't think he got his wish, though! LOL

Older mounts have a certain appeal to me... we have some hanging in our adirondack camp.. all raggedy and smoke stained.. I always liked them.. kinda like having an antique in the camp.. and they are OLD!! lol
