That's the route I took initially...trying to keep it small and affordable. Then for some reason, it started to become more and more my parents wedding even though I'm the one getting married. They're inviting relatives I didn't even know I had. "Oh, you if you invite this person, you have to invite that person as well...they would be insulted." - me: "I don't even know them, why would I care if they're insulted?" Oh well...money comes and money goes but parents will always be there. I figure just make everyone happy and get it over with.

That's how our weddings go, it's for the parents, not the couple. I ended up with close to 300 guests that evening. I was so tired by the end of the night, I can't remember if I consummated the whole thing that night. The next night made up for it though

I hear you Elmo. My wife and I were looking to invite 100 people tops. When we told our parents they laughed and said there are at least 150 on both sides. We ended up with 275 guests. Thats what happens when you join the Greeks and Italians together.

At our wedding reception as we were going around to the tables there were some tables where we did not know the guests. They would come up to us and say something like: "I'm your 5th cousin on your grandmother's side once removed". My wife even thanked the band leader for coming at the end and he said "I had to be here- you paid me."

Just wait until you do the seating chart. Oh my! Who wont sit with whom, this one is not talking to that one and so on and so forth.

Sports mans guide....I've been waiting and waiting to re-up the membership...if you read the site carefully and click different things ..they just keep giving discounts....so by the end I was able to received double the buyers discount get free shipping....though they ended up charging me bulk...which admittedly added a $10 fee to each stand...still less that gas and time plus no way would I have found those prices around here...because I re-upped they will also sent me 2 10.00 discount slips for future purchases...after X-mas I'll be looking at broad heads...and what ever I did not get for Christmas....Plus Mr B is using the free shipping for his shopping...

Xmas drives me nuts. I ask for nothing every year. To me its not about gifts, its about family and friends. Im not very religious and it strikes me quite odd how this day has turned into one great big I want I want I want. After all are we not suppose to be celebrating the birth of jesus christ? Why is it about buying loads of presents for each other? Im confused. Anyone know about when xmas turned into a way to stimulate the economy before the books close for the year? I think the true meaning of xmas has been lost over the years now days and even later in my younger years it is all about presents. Kids getting stuff they asked for and it still is in original package 2 years later. The best xmas's of my life was when my grandparents were alive and it was a big feast, lots of laughs, big smiles, well a celebration with more gifts of love and less gifts material things. In this house we are pushing more for these things as the kids get older and farther away from spending a months savings to generate a bought smile. All I want is some hugs, smiles, laughter, a good meal with friends and family to share it with. Hope everyone has a great xmas and a happy and safe new year.

Elmo are her parents or yours paying for the wedding? The problem is that when parents pay for their kids wedding, they think they can do whatever they want and invite anyone they want. The key is to pay for the wedding yourselves and then NO one can tell you what to do. That's what I did and kept it very small. In this day and age, I can't understand how parents can still be dumb enough to pay for their kids weddings with divorce rates being like 50%? If two people want to get married, they themselves should be the ones coughing up the money for it. Case closed in my opinion.

You're a good son, I can tell that about you. I guess you just do what your gut tells you to, but like others have said, you still can never make everyone happy. It's your and your wife's big day. That's what should make EVERYONE happy, and they shouldn't be so concerned with themselves.

So I decided to do something extra nice for my dad this year. I got a good deal on a Remington 597 with a scope on it. Im gonna wrap it up and give it to him for Christmas. His old Marlin has a bad misfeeding problem, and I have torn it down twice and tried to fix it. I figured this year is as good a time as any for a new one for him.

I was "forced" into a list. FInally gave one to the better half.

Vortex scope for my muzzleloader...some Cranford Screw In steps, and money for my leases, trips to Ohio, and property fund.

Finally re-started the property purchase fund, but need to maintain the leases I have for the foreseeable future. Pretty bummed at first about dropping $20k on a single roll of the dice, but it's paying off as our baby is due next month.
