Million $ insurance policy

Recommended Posts

I heard on a local radio talk show today that now the state/federal gov,t. is coming up with a idea/ bill that would require gun owners to have a million dollar insurance policy on each gun that you own! Just wondering if anyone else heard of this stupid s--t? Sounds like another back door attemp to get the guns.

This has been brought up by states in the past impossible to do without registration. I think but am not positive that NY has attempted to bring it to vote before and it was shot down. But then again anything seems possible with our current representatives.

and Biz-R-OWorld NRA members get $2,500 of ArmsCare coverage with your NRA membership. This plan covers insured firearms, air guns, bows and arrows against theft, accidental loss, and damage. Insurance must be activated.

the insurances they want all gun owners to carry would be violence liability insurance.

It's a bill proposal in Illinois called the “Firearm Owners ID-Insurance” bill; http://www.infowars.com/democrat-proposes-law-requiring-firearm-owners-have-1000000-insurance-policies/

As for the statement on what a standard NRA Membership includes... it's way off:

If every NY gun owner needs $1MM in insurance, some insurance company with love the opportunity to make $ and undercut other companies and offer cheap insurance.

Oh yeah, cause that has worked so well with auto insurance.

Biz-R-OWorld that may be true it may not be but please explain to me how this insurance is going actually help PREVENT violence other than making another hoop to jump through for law abiding citizens. also please inform me how many criminals are actually going to obtain this liability insurance on their illegal firearms. this would create hard times for some people who fight to survive financially as it is and use their firearms to obtain food and once again leaves law abiding gun owners paying for the acts of criminals that may or may not pay for their crimes let alone pay for insurance for the crimes they commit.

How many automobile accidents are there per year in NY?

How many gun-related accidents are there per year in NY?

I haven't looked up either, but I am going to say there is quite a big difference.

this isnt comp insurance against theft of loss its liability against malice use. cost IS the issue. a back door tax. say you own 2 or 3 guns at say $100 ea per year. thats $300 a year not awful bad. however in my neck of the wood if you own 1 you probably own 10 or more. in some cases it could be 4or 5 thousand a year. And yes many many people in upstate own that many guns and more. and lets not overlook the other fact if you insure them THEY ARE REGISTERED!!!! one more pile of bs piled on top of us....

Biz, you live too close to NYC. It's effecting your thinking. I suppose your on board with the styrafoam container ban also?

No big deal right.

I never said I agree with the possible insurance law.

With respect to the styrafoam ban, who cares? I honestly didnt even know people still use it for anything. All restaurants, etc give you leftovers in plastic or tin.

Point being that in NY auto insurance is required by law and you pay out the nose. My best friend from high school moved to TN where auto insurance wasn't mandatory and the same guy with the same driving record insured the same vehicles for 1/7th the cost.
