growalot
They didn't...the grant was for NY to purchase the land...69,000acres...when NYS stopped the sale they had to return the grant money the Feds had given them for the sole purpose of the land purchase...If We have an excess of funds...why couldn't they afford a deal they'd spent months making? Contender
Wouldnt it be interesting to get a look at the fund that was supposed to hold the proceeds from the push to sell lifetime licences several years ago. This money was not supposed to be spent. The dividends on this money were supposed to go to the DEC forever. Maybe the answer lies below: A) This is where the excess DEC money is coming from. B It went to Education like the millions of dollars of lottery money. C) It is gone I chose C. Anybody know how to find out? Any way you spin it, these people are crooks and are going to continue to go after our guns and choke the DEC out of existance. sg0331
To those of you pointing at us youngsters, why didn't you learn from his father? The family name is a scam!!! This is a CYA for his foolish SAFE ACT. He thinks NY sportsmen are dumb rednecks, and we will be happy with saving a dollar here and a dollar there. The dude is a Jack-Wagon just like his father. Unfortunately, our Federal Government is a Federal Republic, which is a direct representation of the public majority. If you are angry with the government, do your part to become the majority. shawnhu
This was officially announced by Cuomo recently. Lower license fees and longer duration. Free trappers license along with other perks. Make no mistake, this is just a ploy to appeal to gun owners after his not so popular gun legislation.
erussell
Just go's to show his arrogance at thinking we are all stupid inbreds. Unfortunately I suspect a great # of sportsman and women will fall for it and applaud the move. You want to appease the masses give them something cheap or free. Which is unfortunate since there is nothing cheap or free. you will eventually pay for it in one way or another. Or future generations will. Let the smoke and mirrors begin. Misdirection is the greatest tool of magicians and polititans and there is little differance between the two. Take whatever bribes the fool wants to offer and then when election time comes around stick the creep in the back like he did to us. That means voting for his opposition, actively work against his campaign (letters to the editor, Letters to rod & gun clubs and other individuals, e-mails to friends and relatives reminding them of his anti-gun law, and as much other involvement as possible for getting him defeated). By the way, that goes for all his lackeys that bowed down obediently and voted for that anti-gun law too. Sure, he's not the only one that use deceit and sneaky maneuvers. Let's give him a taste of his own medicine. Take whatever he's offering and then stick it to the creep and his gang come election day.
Elmo
I blame it on the Republican...they can't seem to get descent ppl to run..Learn to.. Seriously! Obama's approval rating was really low. Any average joe would have beat him in the elections. All the republicans had to do was produce an average joe and instead they produced Romney?!? If we can get every single hunter and gun owner to get out there and actually cast a vote, he'll lose easily.
phade
We all know less than 75% of eligible voters actually vote. If we can get every single hunter and gun owner to get out there and actually cast a vote, he'll lose easily. The cause is timing, really. There were no true candidate within that "age/generation" range willing to run against an incumbent. The new crop to me will be much more successful imo. Rubio, Jindhal, and Ryan really want to try their luck for 2016 when an open competition brings better odds. Really, they're the next "generation" so to speak. Nobody from the current camp could produce...and Romney was the only transition from 2008 left. I know it seems like the pursuit of nomination was tough for him, but it was easy because nobody really had a good foothold. Ryan's talk came about too late, and you better believe he took the nom with the intent to lead the push for 2016. Rubio knows he has a legit shot, and carrying Florida, makes his nomination much more likely IMO. He's also much more inclined to have base support while pulling in the hispanic vote. I like Jindhal (he literally headed the Louisiana Department of Health at 24 years old...seriouisly, 24 years old!) but he really hasn't done enough on the national stage or have the clout to really contest.
