tuckersdaddy
a first aid kit in the field, and whats in it? (and you thought it would be a cc thread). my kit consists of bandaids, hand sanitizer (disinfects and a great fire starter), super glue, a flint, duct tape, zip ties, and a maxi pad (i hope i never need it, but is a great bandage sever bleeding.) are group has also looked into one of the emergency defibulators for the truck since our group has an average age of 52. anyone else have anything else that might be a good idea? JimR
mine includes band aids, 4x4 gauze, a roll of kerlix bandage material, swiss army knife, tylenol, a day supply of my meds, hard candy, and prob other junk I can't recall right now, oh yeah, tp !!!! If you are concerned about cardiac issues perhaps consider baby asprin and sl nitro. Edited March 30, 2013 by JimR
Doc
Sounds like a real good idea, but I can't say that I regularly carry a good safety kit. The only thing that I carry for safety (everytime out) is my cell phone.

nyantler
like Doc I just carry a cell phone... I don't ever remember getting a real injury in the woods... but I am more conscious of it now that I'm getting a bit older.
Lawdwaz
No I don't. Most of the time I'm within a mile of a vehicle or camp and a cell phone is onboard. When I hunted out west regularly I carried a small first aid kit but I found that many of the components aged fairly fast and were NFG when I needed them.
wooly
I've posted mine here before in the camping section. http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/3923-first-aid/ I keep it in my pack and it's there every time I head to the woods any time of year. I don't plan on any open heart surgeries, or amputations while afield, but this is usually enough to comfort most mild to medium problems that could arise for me or a guest. I've never regretted having it with me, and it weighs next to nothing.

Elmo
I keep several basic items in a back pack and my hunting license is attached to the pack so I never forget to bring it. Just grab the back pack whenever I head out to the field. Among the items in the pack is a first aid kit, compass, paracord, fire starter, etc.
