Folding Chairs for Ground Blinds

I was in the local WallyWorld/WalMart today and they were having a clearance sale on those type chairs which fold up and can be carried in a sack. The price was right at $7.00 each. I picked up three dark green ones which I intend to leave at several stand locations for the upcoming gun season. One less piece of equipment to carry in the woods and I could care less if someone stole them.

Sometimes when people sell thier home and move , they will toss out their cheap plastic deck chairs . I have picked some up and put them in a couple of hunting spots . They are stackable and I double them up to give them strength as they are a bit flimsey , especially on uneven ground . Plus , the price is right !

I don't think there is anything wrong with buying cheap plastic (disposable) chairs to stick out in the woods as long as when they are no longer useable (broken, etc.) they get hauled back out. I came across one of those exact same kinds of plastic chairs in the middle of some state land. One of the legs had been busted off and the thing was just laying there, basically trash left behind. It looked like it had been there quite a few years, and being plastic, it was simply another piece of junk littering the woods like all those beer and soda cans. I hauled it out of there when I came back thru. I always come across all kinds of crap out there that people have dragged out to sit on. Plastic 5 gallon paint pails, etc.  That darn plastic stuff never goes away.

I don't hunt the State land and I stash the chairs away so they pretty much are out of sight . Havn't had any break as I stack a second one on top of another which strengthens the legs . They were left behind when people moved because they took up space .

As for buckets , etc , I have seen them in the woods and also on land where they shouldn't have been because it's posted .

I picked up a small camo chair with a carrying strap from Gander Mountain for 25 buck, carries well has a storage pocket, and Very Comfortable. I tilt back againt a tree and brush in. I only use a ground blind if it looks like rain.

I use a small tripod stool that i picked up at Gander Mtn. It fits in my backpack but just hangs out the top. I usually try to bring as little as possible and easy to carry into the woods. And since we are on the topic of ground blinds, I prefer trying to make a natural ground blind as best as I can. Camo netting is a great tool I have used as well. How do you guys feel about the pop up ground blinds?

I have used the plastic buckets and tripod chairs but I stay on stand for a long time and need a backrest so the folding chairs or cheap plastic deck chairs are what I need to use .

any one use the chair blinds that you can buy.They are the fold up chair that has a clam shell looking blind that pups up around it.It has the netting in the front and side windows.My uncle gave me one that he got from gander Mtn.That has the magnets on the netting which is quieter than the velcro that the wallmart ones have.My uncle didn't like the magnets cause they stick to his gun so he gave the blind to me.

I really like the chair.You can sit for a long time in it.I sat all day on opening day.I have had deer get spooked by it and have had deer just walk right by it without even noticing it.If you put it with some thick stuff behind you to break ya up it is a reall nice setup.

I was always concerned, looking at them in the store, that movemnt with a gun would be limited. I am right handed and thought it may be hard to shoot to my right and darn near impossible to shoot behind me. Have you shot any deer using these? They sure felt comfortable in the store though

I have one of the chair blinds and I wouldn't recommend it . You are pretty cramped for space and your shooting availability is pretty constrained . Once you are inside , it is kind of difficult to left and turn . I do not find it comfortable at all . I wonder how the 2 man chair blind would be for ONE person to use ?

I have one of those also. It is way to cramped and is noisy.

I find the little fold up chairs a waist in my blind,very unstable and too low.For next year I am going to move my main pop up blind to another spot.I am going to cut down a tree with a 4" dia. trunk and put my strap on revolving chair on to the tree trunk and then put the blind up over it. No more wobbely chairs and can move 360 degrees without making any noise.

The one my uncle gave me i could pull my Bow back in.LOL.It has plenty of room.It is a Matrix (or the cammo pattern says any how).cant quite exactly remember the manufacturer.I can get down and kneel to shoot to the right.Has plenty of room.My 9 yr old son sat on my lap last weekend and we saw 3 deer out of it.He couldn't stop whispering so they heard us.Wow, i never realized how good they could hear.LOL.He got bored and layed down on the ground and took a nap.I wasn't cramped with him at my feet.I really like it.Just thinking of a way to make it blend in more in the snow.Other than just being a black blob.Might use a white sheet and some velcro strips.Hmmmmm......

My uncle got the one from wallmart and gave me the one he got from Gander.I got the better end of the bargon.LOL.The Wally World ones are cramped.Wally world ones have velcro nets.The Gander version has magnets that stick to your gun.I just leave the net down when alone.

Wally world one has two straps for carrying like a back pack.The Gander mtn one has just one strap that can be unconfortable for long walks.

Over all.I really like it.Didn't think i would at first,but it is deff better than sitiing on a downfall log.

BTW.I hang an orange vest over the blind when hunting in it.Especially when my little ones are sitting on watch with me.Even though it is private land!

I was given one of those one year and never used it. I sat in it once and got rid of it. Too small for me.

My buddy hurt his back a few years ago and brought a regular metal folder in the woods.Well I sat in his stand 1 day and it was a wake up call.For years I sat on the ground on a hot seat.By the end of the season my back was killing me.Now we have chairs in a few ground blinds through out our property.What a difference.And you would be surprised how many people throw these chairs away.

I used to sit on a bucket with a pad onit . My back would be killing me after a while . I need something with a back support .

Go around the block on garbage night.I'm sure you well find a folding chair or 2.we leave them in our blinds all year.You just have to remember your hot seat or some kind of pad.
