Last blind for the year....

Got platform done and 4 walls framed... now if i can just get it stood  up tomorrow  should be able to get it done..

I did buy pt legs for this one.. just didnt have time  or energy to cut locust or larch to make  them...

What were they charging for pt 4x4’s ?  Last spring, I got 8 ft landscape timber’s at Home Depot for 5.99 ea.  I had to sort thru quite a few to find straight ones.

10 ft were $14 apiece.

That’s not too bad.  It sounds like they down a bit from this spring’s peak.  The Fed’s recent interest rate hike must already be making an impact on high lumber prices.

They finally took off terriff on canadian  lumber is more likely the reason.. been hauling lotnof lumber from canada  on the rails lately as well as crude oil from canada to american refineries.

Got base up this am,at 530 to 630 before work called at 7am.. used a couple of stakes a chain and the little tractor kind of footed it like a ladder stand then added last two legs .  Should get rest done  when i get home from work monday and tuesday.

Got stairs built and walls up.. need to get chair in it and  sit in it and figure out exact placement for windows. Thats tomorrows  project..

You can tell how many years it's been there if you count the boards under the legs.

Those are leveling blocks.  For optimum comfort in a stand, I like to keep the platform within half a bubble of perfectly level.

Building my first now. You dont use PT lumber on the blind itself?

Hoping to get walls and roof built but for now just in case I'm setting a ground blind on top..

No just for legs if i dont cut larch or locust. Give your roof a good 2 ft overhang all around protects the siding better than any stain.

Got the walls sided and windows  in door and roof left..though i need someone around when i do roof  or if something happens  ill never be found....

I was going to ask what the trick is with doing roofs. we did a couple and without a 20/30ft extension ladder they are nearly impossible it seems. especially when theres only room for one man up there..

I have done them different ways . Easiest seems to be  build it on ground and slide it up on top ( metal roof 2x3 frame. ) then screw thru top plate to attach.  

I also will built and start to cover it and leave a sheet  out  and attach it from below like a hatch lining up ridges and capping the other sheets . Add bracing to attach it to other rafters..  

I only use metal or plastic /fiberglass panels i cant imagine  roofing it like a house with shingles

YEa thats all we have used as well, tin roofing but a softer style material basically. . Build it before raising it up. Just a pain getting it up above the unit unless you have heavy equipment or room for the ladder up there it seems lol. The more
