This is indeed legit, and not a 'scam' nor 'Hogwash' . Although I do appreciate being called 'scum' on occasion, I don't see why you'd have reason to say that to me?

 

I am making a documentary and would very much like the aide of people who know what they are doing and are proud of their sport. If that's not you - no need to get involved.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I talked to Andreas tonight and (over the phone) he seemed very genuine about wanting to learn about hunting and the roots where it came from in America.I am a little to far away to actually sit down and talk to him but if I had the chance I would.

In order to make a documentary you would need to be an expert in the subject, it doesn't work any other way. Do you even have hunting clothing? Have you ever walked a marsh?

 

I agree with those on here who think this is not legitimate. At best this is an honest mistake. But it could also be a troll or another "Guns of Autumn" stunt. The guns of autumn and the guns of autumn echo were two films broadcast on ABC in the 1970s in which hunters were tricked into having hunts filmed for the bicentennial. The films had no documentary qualities but just showed hunting in compromised clips designed to make hunting/hunters look bad.

 

Many Universities, NGOs, and GOs have already produced very good hunting documentaries - just what do you expect to cover that wildlife scientists did not cover?

Unfortunately if I only made documentaries about subjects in which I was an expert in, I wouldn't be a very efficient documentary maker. What's more, if I was an expert I would not need your help.

This is legit, doesn't matter how many times I say it, I'm sure it won't sway you until it's made - and I can assure you it is not an honest mistake.

Your point about making simply another documentary about subject which has been covered before is defunct in the film world - idealistic at best. How many war films (for example) have you seen? There are hundreds - and there will be hundreds more allowing each director who tackles the topic to put his own style and voice into it.

I don't see why so many people have just been trying to call my bluff without offering a solution? Very well if you don't believe me - good for you - but why waste time and effort telling me. I am looking for people who ARE interested in helping; not who just want to comment to be heard doubting. Go to another forum thread for that.

I'm not talking about whether you are genuine or not. I have to assume you are vetted as pawle has noted.

 

What are you trying to accomplish in the documentary? Is it lifestyle, is it technical, etc.? Not really sure what you want to film either - the act of hunting or the discussion of it?

 

I think that may help people participate a bit on it.

I am trying to get an insight that people who don't hunt, do not get. I want to film through preparations and the hunt and discuss this with the hunter(s). 

I'm not sure you can get that without living it! It's about memories, being in deer camp every season with good friends and just sitting in a tree or in a blind watching what happens out there, that most of YOU will never see except on the discovery channel. I'm not sure a non hunter can ever understand it without experiencing it. For most of us it's not the killing, it's everything that happens before the kill that means anything......That's my opinion anyway.

Why don't you follow me around all week so you can show the world how people who hunt bust their ass and live honest lives? If we're lucky, we will have time to hunt. I'm serious.

How bout this, its been said already and if we can take a small vote, just to help Andreas out, and I'm being serious this time, bring this thread back in January. Am I not right that as soon as our season ends, is really when our season starts. A proper documentary must start at the end, to show how " sportsman" hunt. Correct ? Andreas, if your that interested in finding out more about this sport, take the course, get your license and get ur ass in the woods ! We all started someway or another and I think your only 2 options are to wait till season is over and find someone then, or join the club and get out there. What better documentary than someone starting from scratch and all the knowledge you can gain from a forum like this one.

So, who agrees this is the absolute wrong time to start a documentary ?!?

And who would rather see Andreas join us in the woods as a hunter, not a cameraman !?

I will gladly spend a week with you filming - I'm sure you won't actually let me, but on the off chance you were being serious, send me a message. 

 

I would also gladly come hunting with you a few times. Teach me, show me what it's about, let me understand it properly and then give me a guaranteed right to return and cover it with a camera.

It would go a long way if you posted links to past work.

In order to " show one the ropes" we would have had to started months ago, as most of the work is put in before the season .

It's kinda like saying your doing a documentary on courtship rituals , but only want to film the wedding reception . We know you're just going to get drunk and hit on the chubby bridesmaid.......

That said if it stops thundering,I'm heading out this afternoon.

:gamer:   Info would help.  I live in Huntington and hunt LI on weekends and 3+ weeks out of a wall tent in the ADK.  Like many have said this is kind of late to start something like this...  I have been filming our base camp for years, really brings back memories when I watch them now...  If you are interested let me know and we can discuss some options.  Do you own a fire arm?  Bow?  Have you ever hunted?  Are you familiar with scent control?  Can you hike 3-15 miles a day?  Now the big question...  Can you help me drag out a monster deer???  Hope I have that issue this year...  :bye:   Good luck what ever you do...

      Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county.       The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
      You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

      My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!

      A Hunter's Obligation to Know the Rules

      Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
      I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
      I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
      I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.

      I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
