Zag
I kinda looks it could be one. 4yrs ago I got a nice buck with the bow, with sometime b4 gun season I decided id take the camera and take a hike in Mendon Ponds. I found a few trees that were very large in diameter that were rubbed. Right after inspecting these I see a huge buck 30-40yrds away. I turn the camera on, start to zoom in and it shut off... batteries were dead. That sucked.
nyantler
Very well could be... I've seen them on trunks that big... usually big cedars though...
Lawdwaz
That is a heck of a buck doing that! Probably make Boone & Sprocket Club. Here is one on a cedar tree I snapped a picture of a few years ago in Wyoming County................................

MACHINIST
Is this near a farm?If so on the farm I hunt I had a bunch of trees that looked like that only to find out it was cows rubbing against it with their bodies
TheTruth2
No its in a thick transition between clover and corn
PREDATE
I hope it was made by a deer, but be careful out there! This is possible!
MACHINIST
No its in a thick transition between clover and corn Yea but is there a farm with cows nearby. When cattle(or pigs for that matter) get into woods they can make a mess of it really quick

PREDATE
Close but probably a mountain lion Regarding the probability of a mountain lion, if the green line was feasible then why is the red line not plausible?
BizCT
No claw marks, doesn't resemble a cat scratch at all. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Four Season Whitetail's
Looks like it could be bear also!
Doc
It is hard to tell just how big around that tree is, but I believe it is not a rub. Deer usually rub on trees that they can get their antlers around. I frequently see these scratching marks on the bases of some large trees and have come to believe that it is something that squirrels or some other small-game critters do. Cabin Fever
I don't think it's a buck rub. It's some kind of "scuff" mark though... Man-made? Maybe where a climber was attached at the bottom of the tree?
TheTruth2
The tree is part of a cluster of three, no way a climber can get in there. Theres farm animals around for like a mile. My guess is either a bear or a buck lol If its a buck, hopefully ill be posting a pic soon!
