Hey Doc - for my wildlife shots I use a Nikon D7100 with a Nikon 200-400 f/4 zoom lens.

 

Not sure why they always look pissed-off. Guess that's just how they look..

 

My redtail hawk will get bloody when she eats rabbits and such. When it drys she just preens herself and the blood just dissapears. might be some sort of oil on her feathers that don't let it stain? Not really sure.

 

That's a heck of a rig, and the results show it.

 

That look that all raptors have is all about the eyes, and it is a common trait that no other birds seem to share.

 

Actually, it always amazes me how any the stark white critters can keep themselves looking so clean.

Great pics as always Dave.. My brother took some pics of the owls at Handcock airport... he has one of a snowy owl sitting on the tail wing of one of the planes... He also has the same camera setup as you..

My wife and I went to the beach today to look for owls.While we were walking and looking we saw 2 snowy owls..I didn't bring a camera(again), but I don't take such good photos anyway.
