Taking a leap of faith on a hunting license

Don't have place locked down to hunt yet or someone to hunt with but when the hunting licenses go on sale, i'm going to buy one and keep my fingers crossed lol.

Lots of great state land out there bud.Dont be afraid to get out there and grab up a watch!!!

I hunt state land there are plenty of deer.bear and other wild life on state land find yourself a spot deep in the woods and away from.any human trails and find some sign of deer and you'll probably have some luck. Good luck this year

There's millions of acres of state land that you can hunt. Might be harder then private land, but it gives you a place to hunt.

So im looking on the DEC site and looks like starting from Orange county and up, I can use rifles. Guess i have some homework to do. Never went out without a guide lol. This is going to be very interesting lol. Thanks Elite and AT.

Be careful though because stewart Forrest doesn't allow the use of rifles for deer season.

The first few times can be tough. Lots of learning to do.

Stick with it and you'll figure it out though, even if you have to do it on your own.

LOL with all the horror stories posted here about state land over the past few years (getting shot at, fighting over deer etc etc) you wonder why a person wants to find private land.  it is like you are sending him to slaughter.

I suggest you do some scouting now when you can.  You can buy the license but don't buy any DMPs until you've scouted and know where you're going to hunt.  You have till Oct. 1st to buy DMPs.

You can't get them from the sofa, so go out there and hunt, just do it. Like Elmo said, scout first and take names later...:-)
