Must have Muzzlerloader Tag to use crossbow

Well according to this story you will need to buy a Muzzlerloader tag to hunt with a crossbow expect during the regular hunting season.

 

For licensing, the new law treats crossbows as a "muzzleloader." Hunters must possess a muzzleloader hunting privilege to legally hunt with a crossbow during any muzzleloader season OR during open portions of the early bowhunting seasons. The muzzleloader license privilege is not required when hunting with a crossbow during the early bear season or the regular firearms seasons.

Next season, they will have the crossbow license in place for $15 more.

or you can take it 3 nights broken up... but hey a crossbow is less dangerous so I guess they don't need a proper safety course, just a greater setback... right?

It's offered in a 1 and a 3 day in many places.

 

Many of the ones up here in our area are 3 day. The 1 day courses are often close to the season.

i'm not positive but think an instructor has to have 3 years using the weapon to teach it.. just legal for 3rd year this year.. so how do you get around this ...make it a certficate and sell it as a muzzleloader licence.....
