First-light
My 2007 Tahoe won't start at times. Turn the key all gauges and lights work and I get a small click in the engine. Checked all the cables, battery and alternator fairly new. Its been fine for a few days but I just can't chance getting stuck. Auto place won't take it in cause its running fine now. Buddy of mine says its the starter and he will change it out for me. Appreciate your thoughts. First time it happened I turned the key a few times then put it on on and moved the gear shifter back and forth but that didn't work. One last try and she fired up. Weird. Yup. Sounds like starter. Pretty simple fix. Next time it won’t start take a hammer and tap on the starter a few times and give it another try.

Moho81
Agreed, sounds like the starter. They can be pulled out and tested by your local Napa/Advanced Auto/Autozone if they offer that service. I think they can even run through a systems check with their computer to test battery/alternator/starter without removing anything but again only if they offer that service. I know my local place has stopped offering some of those services because people are morons.

airedale
My tractor was having a similar problem, it turned out to be a bad cable connection from the battery to the starter. Al Edited 8 hours ago by airedale
