Thanks for the opinions guys. I can say that since I only own ~96 acres here in Cayuga county, he's #1 on my hit list, and actually the only one on my hit list. I am pretty sure he is a 3 year old. He hangs out in the same area that a nice 2 year old 8 point was last year so I think he is the same buck. I literally have a plethera of 1-2 year old bucks that could be something nice over the next couple years. But I know my neighbors hunting style too well and they don't let anything walk by that has antlers. I do try to take 3 plus year olds on my property and have been fairly successful doing so. Here in my area, with the given hunting pressure, a 3 year old is a good buck. Granted he may not add up to what some others would like, he's a shooter here.

Most of us have no interest in shooting zoo deer in pens though so in the real world.......

I would put him at 3.5 just not solid enough for a 4.5 in body. Nice deer and in one of my spots he would be dinner. If you have a big chunk of controlled land then I can see giving him another couple seasons and hope. At 5.5 he should be a doozy!

You want to see them grow.... But you'll allow someone else to shoot it. You do understand that a dead deer, won't grow, right?

Yeah i myself would let him grow but would not stop one of the younger or older guys have at him on our property. I know the rest of the ones that hunt here would pass him. He would make a great first couple...or last couple bucks for some that hunt here.

I guess you have a comprehension problem also! I responded to a post that brought my deer into the conversation.!

And im pretty sure that it was said a number of times that there was controlled land long before you brought it up.

We do the same. I hunt a farm of a few thousand acres with many more surrounding farms of size as well.

We all work togather to manage the area for bucks of a certin size, but young and new hunters get to shoot a buck of any size . Is pretty common .

He finally made it out of velvet, but he's back to a nightly routine instead of day. Good news is, he's appeared to push out all of the other bucks from this area (~10 acre piece) and has about 7 does to himself. I have cameras surrounding his bedding area and there are no other bucks to be seen.
