Gencountyzeek
I worked at a company that builds machines for oil and mining industry. I did anything from cutting structural steel, laying it out, punching, for the last 5 years I ran 2 vertical milling machines. I've run laser cutting machines, break presses. If it was in our layout department I've run it.
grampy
Man, sorry to hear that. Tough time of year too. Hope you get some tasty venison in the freezer to offset the grocery bill. My thoughts are with you for a quick call back or new opportunity somewhere else. Best of luck to you.

Big Indian
That effing sucks! I was laid off from Feb-July. The positive thing ( if any) was I saw the true meaning of friends and family. Although I was getting unemployment, the kindness of the human spirit I was shown was absolutely amazing. Groceries and meals mysteriously appeared at my door several times. Good luck on your search, I'm sure you are aware, but take advantage of any/all websites that are employment related( monster/linked-in/indeed/hot jobs, many many more...the unemployment office will provide you with everything you need
Doc
I only got laid off once in my entire career. That was when the company I was at decided to let go 2/3 of their employees all at once. It was "last one in 1st one out arrangement. What a kick in the gut that was. But as it turned out, it led me right to the door of a great company that I eventually retired out of after nearly 40 years. Sometimes a lay-off winds up being the best kick in the butt that gets you to make a move you should have made already.
