Dom
I myself think I do the same. All the call's that I have used do not sound like any Deer sound I have heard over the years of deer hunting.I have gotten more deer to come in after rattlle/tickling antlers
Skillet
I'm not an aggressive caller at all. I'll bleat or grunt at a distant buck sometimes, but I don't blind call often. I've never rattled. I'm sure it works, I just can't bring myself to make that much noise in the woods. The bleat has worked for me a time or two, but I've also had it spook them, same thing with grunting.
turkeyfeathers
I have "The Can" that I try every year once or twice for the first few days. It's never worked for me. It goes from my left chest pocket of jacket the first few days, to the backpack and then I have no dang idea until I find it again the next year prepping for upcoming opener. Year after year this happens. I do always have a mouse squeeker in my leg pocket of my hunting pants I can tap quick to get a coyote to stop, if that doesn't work I'll try a verbal bark. ApexerER
Probably more than I should.....I will grunt and try the can when I see a deer that is to far out and not heading toward me. I will blindly call every hour or so if I am not seeing any action at all.....I had 5 point that I killed come in after I grunted and hit the rattle bag a few times blindly this year. I am still not sure if he came in to the noise or if he just was coming anyways. That is the only deer I have ever had show up after calling.... Five Seasons
Only every 30 min or so. Or grunt if a buck looks to be leaving. Never seems to work well but at least I feel like I'm doing something other than just sitting there
G-Man
I never call in gun, bow if I need to pull a buck in range that I see, that's it. Hunt funnels, trails to bedding/cover. They come thru naturally (or escaping other hunters) and with gun if I see them I usually have shot. But I hunt fairly thick stuff in gun 70 yards visable max usually closer to 40.
Uncle Nicky
Never had any luck with any calls or rattling deer antlers, even in Texas where it's supposed to be foolproof. I just leave this stuff at home or throw it in the trash when it breaks and never replace it.

NFA-ADK
Depending on area will determine how much I call. I call less on state land than private just because deer hear people using calls all the time in high presser area's and will typically do it early season more than late season. Blind calling I will hit the grunt tube once or twice and the can usually 2 times never together and I try to call only 3-4 times a day max. I have multiple calls so I try to switch calls in the same area to sound like different age groups and so I do not sound the same every time. Overcalling will have them pin point your location. While still hunting I will call after I move a few hundred yards or more or when I get into another area. I try to use the grunt tube sparingly and rely more on the can when I am hunting bucks. My preferred call for a grunt tube sounds like a young buck 2-3 year old max. The soft grunt I have found works the best, just loud enough for them to hear. My favorite calling is early season using the Maaa Maa call by mouth for doe. I do this type of calling blind when I know deer are in the area but can not see me. This is a distress call and has to be done loud! I use this call once in an area for the year usually. After a few weeks I might try again. Just be ready because if doe are in the area sometimes they charge in! This has been my most productive way to call deer. Public land I call maybe 2-3 times a day private sometimes more but as the season wears on I call less as they seem to ignore calling more. Higher the hunting presser the less I call. jr8_jr8
I've had a lot of success calling.I do allot of blind calling every 20 min.I use fawn bleat, doe bleat, the can buck grunt and rattling..depending on the time depends on the call I use...I Had a buck come running in to a fawn bleat then a doe bleat this yr..when the doe is ready to breed she will bleat to push get fawn away and the fawn bleats back drives the bucks crazy.
