Nomad
http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Victorinox+Farmer Ok for a back up knife with saw this is hard to beat. I like a saw for camp/survival purposes , look around and you'll see the woods is mostly wood...., so for shelter building, tool making ,some fire wood prep. a saw is great .Saves the knives edge and works faster than a blade and with this one you could saw through pvc pipes and 2x4 s , not that you'd likely need to just showing its a capable saw. Great for those saplings you never cleared, faster and easier then a folders blade.
dbHunterNY
I had a mini Buck knife like Roadkill posted. mine was black though and I lost it. since replaced with an equally small folding knife with the Lansky name on it. One year I misplaced my bag with all my game processing stuff. I use that little Lansky knife from field to freezer and it really wasn't even much of a burden. It helped to touch up the blade quickly a couple times but that's it. I've got a few knives but that's normally what I use. to be clear here we're talking deer. something like a moose would have me a little better equipped despite I could deal with it. Culvercreek hunt club
The biggest knife I use is a Buck 102. Most cases I carry smaller fixed blades and do everything with them. I do have a small folding saw and what are you really saving having one of those blade changing systems? a few ounces? I have never needed a saw to process game in the field. I do split the rib cage unless I am caping it and that is easily done with a knife. Never a need to split the pelvis if you are doing it right. MACHINIST
Think I found my new knife. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Case-XX-Lightweight-Camo-XX-Changer-5-Lockback-Pocket-Knife-18335-/131713495323?hash=item1eaabc711b:g:UDUAAOSwnipWYtQP
Five Seasons
I know you don't want something else to carry, but sometimes tools that are designed for 2 jobs sacrifice certain things. Your buck knife is a fine ass knife. I'd recommend a small folding saw. I have an ameristep that's light and plastic (so not super durable) but it easily fits in my fanny pack.
Doc
I have some personal preferences in the one knife that I carry. I don't want anything that cannot tolerate a lot of abuse. I don't want one that folds. And I don't want one that is light. If I want to cut a 1-1/2 inch sapling for a walking stick, I don't want to be limited by the size of my knife. If I want to remove a husky limb that is in my shooting lane, I don't want to be under-knifed. If I ever have to use it in a survival or defensive mode, I want it to be robust enough to handle those tasks. Yeah, I have a small jack-knife that is always in my pocket right along with the nail-clippers and coins. But that is not a "hunting knife". MACHINIST
I understand why people choose what "they" carry for a knife/saw /mallet/sword but that's not me.I want a midsize folder with a saw.I have read tons of reviews on the case and haven't seen any bad ones yet.My buck 110 has served me perfect for over 20 years so I don't see why the same style knife wont do the same when it has a saw blade that I can put on it to do what I want it to do.I asked for opinions on a knife that meet my requirements, instead I got what everyone else carries and why. Thanks for everyone's comments and why they would carry but I specifically asked for someone if they had any dealings with the buck I posted or similar. drlfc
I own an Alpha Crosslock and I love it for field dressing a deer. Razor sharp blade, aggressive saw blade. Best $ I've ever spent on a hunting knife!

Bowguy 1
I'd say the best knife for deer sized game is a 102 woodsman. Knife is perfect
Fletch
I prefer a little Western straight blade. I can gut or butcher anything from a 6 inch trout to a bull moose with it. Unless you are hunting in southern warm temps I am not inclined to cut pelvic bone or ribs the trade off is not worth the extra contamination and loss of meat. And for cutting limbs a knife saw is like sucking a tit through a wool sweater! Not worth the effort. Just my 2 cents.
