done it lately ?

So yesterday I stopped at Tim Hortons on the way to work with the little girl. A guy in front of us had 2 of the trays filled with 4 beverages each and 2 big bags of food. I said you need a hand ? He said no I got it. I'd bet the house some of those coffees never would have made it to his truck. I grabbed a tray and a bag and he did the same. Walked them out to his truck and he had parked the farthest he could (poor planning there )  He gave me $3.00 to pay it forward thru the drive thru my next trip thru. I did it this morning for a woman and her kid. Sometimes it the little things that make you feel good.

Couple of months ago I told the Tim Hortons cashier I'd pay for the cops coffee behind me. Clerk said they get it for free. I tried.

Maybe 5 years ago daughter and I driving and passed an obvious homeless man along a busy street holding a sign which read "need food" I drove a quarter mile or so and saw a Burger King. We bought a breakfast combo and turned around to give it to him. She was nervous getting out of the car but I made her hand it to him. Guy was pleased as punch and commented on her polite manners and that he liked her shoes. Wished him safe and happy travels and we continued our journey.

Crap, even please and thank you's go a long way. Too many just don't do it anymore.

I must be getting my period as I'm sensitive this morning

I was in line at Tim Horton's (drive thru) a couple years ago and I noticed the truck in front of me belonged to Mark Greco.  He owns a local pizza joint and is a staffer for Knight & Hale Game Calls.  I don't know him very well but we are certainly friendly.  When I got to the speaker I told the gal I'd pay for whatever the guy in front of me ordered, DON'T TAKE HIS MONEY I said.

He gets his money and pulls ahead, gets out of his truck and has this astonished look on his face.  We had a good laugh about it and shot the breeze for a bit after I got my cup-o-joe.

It is the little things that are important as TF said. My kids have noticed me hold doors for both men and women, especially when it is cold outside. I get a huge smile on my face when my kids let someone else go in front of them or better yet, hold the door for them. Usually a Thank you follows and then a You're Welcome from the kids.

Great stuff you don't alwAys see from today's youth but is refreshing when you do.

I like to think I am smiley and polite to everyone. I try and go out of my way for the elderly, I figure they are someone's grandparent.

I have a few stories but they would be boring to you I am sure.

Daughter ushered at The Lancaster Opera House for a show last night for hours service for National Honor Society. Before she went I text her " Be helpful, those older folks are someones grandparents too "

It's been awhile . Last time I stopped for a beer at a brew pub after visiting my mom, the place was pretty empty, the female bar tender was telling another worker about her first house she just bought . Then a young man sat down at the bar , soon joined by his mother.

From the conversation I could tell he was leaving to join the military .

When I asked for my bill for my Scotch Ale, I gave the bar tender $20 and told her to,put the change towards her new house, and gave another $20 towards the young man's tab, with the promise she won't tell them till I'm gone.

The look on her face was more than worth a couple pieces of paper I won't even miss the next day .

last week when I got off of the 198 at Delaware st there was a guy with a sign that says veteran homeless trying to get home it was snowing heavy wet snow I didn't have any money on me but in my passenger seat I had a package of hand warmers and mittens I was hoping I would get to stop and them to the guy but traffic got going good so I went up Delaware swung around went in my trunk and fund a really nice dinner coat that I bought last year I grabbed the coar and skii mask gloves and hand warmers and have them to the guy he was so thankful and said I.can't believe you would give away such a nice coat.

he said he moved here from out of state to be with a girl and that didn't work out so he was trying to make enough to get a bus ticket to go home I wished him luck and was on my way.

about 10 years ago my.brother was in his 20s and still.lived at home with my parents my.parents would let anyone stay at their house my.brother was taking food to a bonehead guy.for a couple of months one day he brought him to my parents house they set up the attic and let him stay there the guy told my brother he was homeless because 15 years or so earlier his wife and kids were killed in a car acciddnt and he lost everything after that and hasn't spoken to his siblings in over 10 years none them knew where he was since he lived in Florida when he had a family.

my brother helped him get his identification and stuff and helped him find his family he was so.thankful.

the guy still.lived his can.collecting and drinking and one night he never made it back.to the house he was find dead on.a side walk drank himself to death. very nice guy a lot of people think homeless people are homeless because of drugs.or drinking but a lot of them are just down on their luck because of all different reasons.

This is more of a rant but I tried.

So this weekend, I had attend a baby shower.  We showed up early and my wife decided she would help with the setup so that left me with my son.  I was getting a little hungry and knew there would be food at the shower but it wasn't going to start in a hour or so.  The only thing nearby was a McDonalds so I figure some nuggets would hold me over.  I get in and there were two registers running.  One of them didn't have a line so I went there to order when a homeless lady came up behind me asking me for some change.  At first I said no but then I thought about it for a minute and changed my mind.  I told the homeless lady that I would buy her meal.  She said she wants a soda.  I thought "that's it?"  So we get to the cashier and I ordered an "order of chicken nuggets and an iced tea and what ever this lady wants."  The homeless lady leans in and asks for a large Sprite.

There was no other customers behind us so we stood there.  Awkwardly...and after a minute of twiddling her thumbs, the cashier decided maybe she can help out by getting our drinks.  She gets the order together, comes back to the register, and then yells "241?".  I didn't even look at the number on my receipt but I'm like, girl, you didn't help anyone else.  She yells again..."241?"  I actually looked around like, is this girl for real?  I understand there was other customers who ordered through the other cashier but you only helped one person while I was here and that's me.  How do you not remember that this order is mine?  One more time..."241?"  That's when I was like, "yeah, that me...that's my order."  She goes, "Oh!".

I guess she notices that I'm holding a child in one arm so she takes the two drinks and puts them in a plastic bag.  I told her, "ummm...the drinks are separate."  She goes "What?  What do you mean?".  I said, "The two drinks are for separate people."  She goes "I don't understand."  I said, "You know what...I don't need the bag.  Can you just take the drinks out of the bag."  She does so.  I grab the Sprite and hand it over to the homeless lady.  Grabbed my nuggets and iced tea and left.  Whole time thinking about how these people want $15 an hour....totally forgetting the fact that the homeless lady never thanked me for the drink I bought her.
