Biz-R-OWorld 2016 Season

I have a number of spots on my property where I get consistent action all summer long (up to 10 pictures of deer a day) and then come mid September and into hunting season they seem to disappear..   I have always attributed it to their feeding patterns changing...    It is part of learning a new piece of property...   It will take many years to get things down, but at least you won't be in a position where you figure it and then lose hunting rights...

So what happened to the clover? Hoping Growie will chime in. Anyway. Planted on 8/20.

Pic here is 6 days later on 8/26 and showing what I thought was good signs for growth.

Went to check Saturday (9/19) and there is nothing. Was it all eaten down? I do have tons of pics of deer eating. Will it grow back in the spring?

This area is one of the few spots on the 80 acres that had significant acorns on the ground as well. Not sure if that matters in any way.

Hey Biz ...had the same thing happen on 2 small oak plots....the only thing that survived was my small Burnett...so I went in and reseeded...I am now going to go pick up some WR for putting the garden to bed and will go over those areas in the WR ..lightly..We have more rain due in another few days...It's the drought and your deer probably aren't use to a lot of "new" tastes in the area...and are hitting things hard...Your clover was probably to young to put down enough roots to recover...though sometimes I get surprised...another frost seeding late winter/spring will do you good. Never get discouraged...remember it's just a game between you and Ma nature....sometimes she wins a skirmish or two...in the end you'll have the battle won...

PS...may be a good sign as well...turkey love young clover...you may have some good birds around...also any other kind of bird and all rodents...my not be the deer to blame...

might be lack of sunlight..    I have tried a couple places in the woods and it starts just like your did and then it just disappears because it can not grow fast enough...   You probably want to try taking down a number of tress in that area to open things up.

The only thing growing in fenced in areas is FSW's deer:rolleyes:

So True...And they grew 43 big ones big$$$  Gotta love it when a plan comes together.  As far as the Clover it did not look like it had a very good start and like a bird on a worm...When a clover plant came up as a young un it was snipped of not being able to grow back again. Even just those 3-4 deer would decimate that little plot as soon as it came up.. Like Candy!!!

Thanks all. Yea that area is the only spot nearby with acorns so between that and the little bit of clover that tried to grow, I guess the deer just ate it all. No pics of turkey in this specific spot, just deer every single day and a Yote Once in a while.

Unfortunately most times with plots that small any sizeable deer population will destroy them before they can get established. Invest is some dozer work, get a 1/2 acre opened up.

Nah. Not looking to spend big money just for a food plot. Unless a dozen can get dropped into this flat spot by a helicopter it's not happening. Extremely steep rock cliffs surround this flat area.

Had the day off today so went to check the cam near clover (which failed), but acorns are a plenty on the ground. Bunch of does as usual and the same spike Ive been seeing for months. But this time an 8 pointer came into the mix. He's definitely not the 4pt I have pics of so there's for sure 3 different bucks I have pics of. 8pt has been coming last few days now. Would love to get him with Xbow. This cam is right next to my ground blind so these would have been easy shots (under 25 yards). Also found a big bee on other side of property.
