Finally, an honest assessment by a politician who knows what he is talking about.

                                                                                                                          This new Congressman was an extremely popular commander in Iraq.  He was forced to retire because during an intense combat action a few of his men were captured.  At the same time his  men had captured one of the guys who were with the Iraqis who captured his men.

Knowing that time was crucial and his interrogators were not getting anywhere with the prisoner COL West took matters into his own hands.  He burst into the room and demanded through an interpreter that the prisoner tell him where his men were being taken.  The prisoner refused so COL West took out his pistol and placed it into the prisoner's crotch and fired.  Then the COL told the prisoner that the next shot would not miss.  So the prisoner said he would show where the American service members were being taken.  The Americans were rescued.  Some one filed a report on incorrect handling of prisoners.  COL West was forced to retire.  COL West was just  elected  in November 2010 to Congress from Florida.  During the elections he was part of a panel    on how to handle or how to relate to Muslims.  You will see his answer here.

Freedom of religion doesn't include the right to kill people of other religions.  It is not hypocritical to call for their exile.

Now you are generalizing to say that all Muslims are blood thirsty killers, MR VJP.  Which is the problem in the first place, closed-mindedness.  They have the right to practice their religion here just as much as you have the right to go to church on Sundays.  But conservatives forget that because if you're not an old, straight, white, Christian man you don't deserve to live in this country. 

Mr VJP in the NRA thread you often said that if you're a gun owner who doesn't belong to the NRA you're nothing.  Well the same applies here, if you're an American who doesn't want others to be able to enjoy the same freedom you have, you're nothing.  You're a hypocrite and speaking bluntly, this country ought to be ashamed of people like you.

Just the type of answer I would expect from you patriots.  I am as guilty as anyone else living in this country for the plight of these people.  I however don't tout all of America's great virtues without acknowledging this very sad fact in our nations past.  Holding ones freedoms to such a degree is nothing short of hypocrisy if we don't give a rats ass about the freedoms we took away from others to get it.

That's not being a hypocrite, that's demanding accountability.  Better that misguided Americans are ashamed of me for my opinion, than American's wind up dead because they were in denial.

Thats how it was done in those times.. it was survival of the fittest....somehow we are any different than the british, the Romans, mongolia?

Sure, there was barbarism since the beginning of time. The BIG difference is that other nations don't go around touting FREEDOM like we do. We go telling everyone about how free we are and think everyone else should be the same, but never acknowledge what we done to others to get these great freedoms.  I don't hear the other countries proclaiming themselves to be as great as this country likes to tell everyone.  A little modesty can go a long way.  Hypocrisy is easily identifiable.

The US did not comit acts of terrorism against japan. It was war, and they attacked us.

Not for me, it was like yesterday...And for the terrorists, they operate on a different time scale than the rest of the world..They wait and attack when they can.    Do you know how many terrorist attacks have been thwarted in this country since 9/11?    If you can forget about just the ones that failed or were thwarted by Law Enforcement, and were publicized, it still leaves thousands of terrorists killed by our armed forces in recent years.      We took them out in the Afghanistan training camps. We took thouands of Al-Qaeda out in Iraq, that were mostly foreign fighters sent there for the jihad...    How many terrorist attacks would there have been in this country? Many..    And the problem with the Muslims, (to the rest of the world) is that for the most part they are very quiet about terrorism..It might be a small percentage that are directly involved, but an even smaller percentage that outwardly condem them. Plus the fact on 9/11 they could be seen around the world dancing in the streets...What does that tell you?

Talk about ignorant.  Did you miss Fort Hood?  The Times Square Bombing Attempt?  The Portland Oregon Attempt?  You have your head in the sand buddy.  they haven't stopped.  Did you hear Obama last night?  he even mentioned how many plots have been foiled in the last year.  Are you that foolish?

They don't tout freedom because they aren't free! Even the native americans here are free... the fact is they could have been extinct.

And in the American south men don white hoods and hang black men for being black...what does that tell you? Terrorism is a subjective term and one attempted definition is just as arbitrary as the next.  THere's a famous quote, one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.  That doesn't justify terrorism, but we can't really understand something until we look at it from another perspective. 

"They attacked us"  That's a mature way to look at it.  Yes, they attacked us.  They also attacked a military installation.  We firebombed Tokyo, burned the city to the ground and killed hundreds of thousands, then we dropped two nukes.  On innocent civilians.  Children, women, the elderly, our hands aren't clean.  You're living in a glass house, I'd suggest putting your rocks down.

I guess all American's go through the young and stupid phase.  Especially with the Liberal Left occupying most of the teaching positions in the schools and Universities these days.
