growalot
That's probably where we were Today...We hopped in the truck and just drove back roads through the finger lakes. Started at monkey run and went out and around the finger lakes. Spent an hour trying to drive through Watkins Glen. Grand prix ...should have checked before we left.Zig zagged around and visited the kids in Bigflats. Then zig sagged all the back roads from there home..What a fun day! Will_C
That is my kind of day. Do it a lot in the early spring-March and early April when it still isn't nice enough to work outside. Will
DirtTime
No where near me growie. Still a couple hundred miles away. But those rides are fun. When we went camping this weekend we took the long route to get to the camp grounds. Saw some beautiful country, were on gravel roads for a good ways, it was fun. It was Friday afternoon so we didn't see many deer. But, we will not be taking that route again. One spot on the road was pretty vertical and when we hit the crest you couldn't see the road. Scared the crap out of both of us and the dog.
Zag
Good for you, my wife and I use to do that. Id drive and just start turning down random roads. We did that I'm my mustang one day yrs back in the spring. We were down past Honeoye lake and turned up a road that turned into a rough gravel road and some left over snow. I almost turned around but figured it wouldn't last long and it did. I got a few chips in the paint that day ( stupid me).
Lawdwaz
My uncle's place was on Swartz Rd, right off Garlinghouse. Many great memories in that area..... Monkey Run USED to go all the way down to Feather Street IIRC. You go that way growie?
growalot
I didn't look at the signs but I believe we did...man talk about drought...a lot of empty ponds out there...got better the closer to town, we got then went and turned down by Bob and Ruth's....went by all the state land...some guys were parked, probably scouting..... headed out toward Geneva then back again...left in the early morning and got back around 4...lots of changes and much still the same on some of these roads. Lots of Amish out and about, zipped over to the Wind Mill market for a little bit, that was packed. Makes me laugh, like stepping out of the truck right into the 1970's...lol Watkins Glen park was mobbed... Hit the out of way dirt road wineries not on the trail...just to pin locations for future checking out...Everyone's a wine makers... Stopped for a twin kiss cone....I got a small that was 6 ins of ice cream above the cone and Mr B's medium was 8"s high...we laughed ,through the ice cream head aches trying to keep up with the drips got our money's worth on those..... Mr B had a friend years ago that knew everyone, Roger Lee, I worked with his wife in Naples, in the area and pointed out a place way up on top that they use to hunt deer...
