Sticking it out with the bow

Did rifle for 3 days in the ADK 5 days total, one of my shortest trips.  Rest of the season is bow for me, I have until January and they might extend the season on LI, waiting to see if that gets implemented this season or the following year in 2018.  Hope to find one I like and have a good shot!  Last one was 60 yards directly in the morning sun on top of a hill.  A picture burned in my mind that I will never forget!  Looked like a scene from Deer and Deer Hunting or something you would see on the cover of Field and Stream!  That image alone will keep me going this year and he is not the big boy!

I have a couple/few spots I'll sit during late bow if I don't fill my regular season tag.

I have two doe tags for 4J, and will be sitting in the Pine Bush this next week and a half or so when I have the chance.

Generally, I really enjoy the bow much more than I do the rifle, and seem to get a little more excited about the bow hunts than I do the rifle hunts.

I'm thinking of getting into bow next season.

Guess it's time to prepare for another 8 hour class, ugh.

I like rifle but it's a pain to get to areas where it's allowed for me.

Figure I can use bow close to home and more frequently and save the rifle for more big woods kind of trips.

Didn't realize how pricey compound bows get. Even the budget packages are not much less than what the rifle cost me.

Have a shop measure your DL and buy used.  Much cheaper.  You will be hooked on BH, guaranteed.  At least I am.

That's what I do I take one or two weekends during the regular season to gun hunt my property upstate. It's all I can handle, like rebel darling I get more excited bow hunting the only time I ever dose off on stand in with the rifle in hand. Buying used is an awesome way to get into bow hunting. Just be careful you don't get so hooked you jump in the deep end and buy a new bow every year like I did it can get expensive lol.

Hey Everyone! This is Louis Backlas/ Cross Over the River Outdoors. I just posted a new video to my YouTube channel that I though ya'll might get a kick out of! Have you ever used a decoy to hunt whitetails? If you haven't before you might want to start! I woke up one morning and look out my front window only  to find that my 3D deer target was in pieces all over the front lawn! A fired up buck decided to take his frustrations out on the target!  this took place sometime in November during the peek of the rut. Hope ya'll get a kick out of it!

      Hey All,
New to the forum, already missing the deer season and have curiosity to quell. This was a great non-typical I was chasing all season in a bow-only area of Ithaca. Anyone know or hear of a non-typical of this caliber being killed? I'll be out scouting for him aggressively soon enough. Thanks!
      Nick
