Dinsdale
Sap ran all night here. Evaporator ticking along for a few hours now; spot of breakfast and back to stoking fire. Nice to be wearing a ball hat and not a heavy winter one!
landtracdeerhunter
We had a nice run here Friday afternoon nonstop through yesterday. I sat in the sun at a few taps watching the goodness run Now theirs work to be done.
Arcade Hunter
Same here... First time syrup maker here! I did get 12 gallons of sap from 7 taps. The finished product could have been a little thicker, but it is still awesome.
Joint Venture
Hello all. Kind of a lurker here. Would anyone be interested in selling a half gallon of syrup? Would need to ship to central NJ. I would pay a fair price and the shipping charges as well. Prefer a darker, thicker syrup but can be flexible. If interested, please text me at 908-930-8579. Thanks! Bill PS - is it November yet? landtracdeerhunter
Trees are slowing due to non freezing nights. Sugar content increasing rapidly. Ratio has come way down from 62 to 1 to 47 to 1. The end result; oh it so good. Glad I tapped early, now that I see the 30 day outlook. Doewhacker
I collected @30 gallons the first three days then summer hit. I cooked up half the sap before the rain came today. The other half will be tomorrow. Good color for the first cook down. Came out at @30-1

turkeyfeathers
Girls and I went there about 3 years ago. Crazy they make their whole season in 2 months. Kicker is : NO bacon served as potential fire hazard with so much grease that would be going from it. Steve D
Something we could do in the parking lot maybe(bacon)?

growalot
We've been there...hit them then go to PA gun shops. There is some good looking public hunting out that way. Though we have much closer producer/ breakfast.

Darker than thicker, Id say it turned out perfect.
landtracdeerhunter
Looks good! Our syrup has also turned darker but, the good news is the sugar content reached just over 3%. Weather conditions seem right with freezing few days, then a warm up for good runs. Some of my January tapped trees didn't run this last go around as expected. I'm sitting on at least 35 gallons which is good for me. HAPPY DAYS!!!
Arcade Hunter
Ours ran this week also, but not quite as much.
landtracdeerhunter
Yesterday was the coldest boil down day this year for me. That cold wind just keeps a howling. Ran oak firewood for an extra hot fire. The hotter the fire; the darker the syrup though.
landtracdeerhunter
It was a very interesting day gathering sap Wednesday doing the hurricane force winds. Didn't lose any maple but, plenty f other damage. I was thinking about the producers on pipeline; how much work you now have before the next flow. How did everyone else fair? Doewhacker
I keep chasing buckets around and it was the coldest start for me at 6 degrees. I have had enough of this stinking wind every time I cook. Right now wind chill is 0!
