Checked out the cardboard blind(Rivers Blind) ...We've had some wicked winds, rain,snow...it's in fine shape in the last stretch of it's second winter need more mice poison but that's all the blinds...checked the other wooden one with card board doors...great pic...I lost it down loading from the new phone...Ha never mind I just found it.

I also took some of the snow and Angel.......the last pic of Angel,(head in snow) was after I jumped and said peek-a- Boo, taught  her that as a pup...:

Looks like your cardboard blinds are holding up very well. By the name, would be a good spot for deer to come in to drink during season. I am surprised how much snow you have on the ground. Barely an inch with lawn grass exposed here.

River is our grandson...I built the blind for him. When he is old enough he can come out with his old grandma and sit a spell...Though 30 yards away the neighbors springs open up right in front of the blind...I have a fence separating the properties keeps everyone happy..or should,keeps me happy. I do have sections I open during bow season and during the week in gun, so the deer can pass back and forth easier...Did that after the monster buck couldn't jump the fence last bow season and I had to watch him walk away....I watched him for a longggggg time..  shear will alone, should have lifted him over that fence. This buck(pic) jumped it the first year I had that blind up ...he dropped in my woods behind the blind. Just a baby compared to the double drop tine...

I am very pleased with the cardboard blinds...the first one is going on 7 years..though will need it's first repairs this spring...mice had a hay day on it last year and I want to redo the camo tarp cover I put over it...the roof ,I do not understand...still doesn't leak ..but pressing the luck on that..So some cardboard patches and a new roof and 20 dollars in tarps to put on....It should be good for another 7 years..if a tree doesn't fall on it.....one huge branch broke a railing off the deck.   Snowing like mad here...my 1 mile walk was a bit of a chore...the snow is wet and very heavy..I shoveled to the mail box...by the time I returned home ...1 in. had filled in where I shoveled.

Thanks.......... All the big blinds have coolers 1-2 swivel, armed office chairs and carpeted...I have a folding cot in one and I have the big buddy heater...We are set to go when the weather is nasty...

I had the pictures on here but.removed them  during a particularly nasty time here...I am not sure they are still on the computer or a zip...will look later...very simple though...individual walls I built and sided and painted. Then screwed together to check fit. disassembled and the tricky part was hauling them down to the built tower platform on a very small wagon.  I then lifted each section up using straps and my  own strength and screwed them together, then to the deck. I did need help from Mr B to haul the roof into place...the front wall is 8ft tall and I could not do that alone...Everything else was just me, So obviously not that difficult.

When siding each wall section start at bottom and work up so the top pieces over lap bottom seams.  All were painted and cured with 3 coats of a high grade house paint I found on sale long roofing nails and good staples used as connectors and gorilla or an out side grade tape for seams before painting...roof...cardboard with a single piece of roofing rubber nailed to frame like a picture canvas. entire frame is 2x2 with the base being PT 2x2 I cut from 2x4's. with such lite materials used...you have no need for a heavy frame...then again the wooden blind is also 2x2 framing...

You'll notice the back wall has no windows framed or cut...Had to wait to see how it would line up to the ash tree limbs I did that last...that trees spits 3 ways 2 well away from the blind and one right up to it...that gets cut this spring then I will bring the tractor in and lift the front of the blind and put a better front leg "foundation" in...I waited to do this and anchored the blind to the tree as well as used limited braces. This is due to my never sinking legs...They can get you(town) on something this big once actually sunk into the ground. All of mine are "freestanding" thus not permanent structures. Anyways I knew there would be sink-age due to weight  I will level this spring and then finish the rest of the bracing It is strapped, nailed and chained to the trunk of that tree.

BTW when painting a blind...I stand back and squat or sit down to get a deer's perspective while looking up. In most cases they are seeing a light grey or blue back ground with overlaying blacks browns and shades of green...thus my lighter color choices...If you look at this following picture...can you see the blind well? Yet I have a perfect view from it.

Yes, I just periodically trim that pine down...though when the leaf cover is gone...Go figure...I was sitting some where else.

Great looking blind you have there! as I have said in the past I built mine on a old wagon under carriage put a heater in it so I can take my grand kids hunting with me after spending a couple years hunting out of it I wonder what took so long to make it LOL long story short I guess as we age its just nice to hunt more comfortably good luck with it many years of use and nice bucks taking from it

Thanks Critter,your right! April 1 I turn 59...As far as I'm concerned, This begins my my 60th year...for it took me a year to say I was actually one..I wasn't 1 the day I was born...lol I could say these things were all due to hunting,but they aren't.

I'm an idol hands  idol mind  phobic I suppose... I think Mr B. bought these lands for me to keep me out of trouble and home...Before we had them I gutted our house....I did the first room and put all the lath and plaster in the middle of the room, took down the wet blanket around the door and cleaned up. I was feeding our first child when he came home and I said...I have a surprise for you up stairs( daughter was sleeping in the downstairs cradle as I worked,2 mos old.) Well I can't type what he said to my surprise....Then as the kids grew I had 3 jobs and a business... So all this...may actually be HIS therapy...

I want to add this...the good house paint was my version of a "cheap" experiment....I figured I could always "fix" it if it didn't work ,or work long. This said the best and longest sealing would be done with rubber roofing paint...This is what they use to make cardboard boats...yes you can make a small boat from card board that will last years ...You can buy white and then ask them to use tint like any other paint to make the base color you want...that or paint as I did, then use a marine grade varnish.

Roof sheeting is shipped with a "cover sheet". It may have some scratches or other minor imperfections. Lumber yards will usually give them away free for the asking. I have covered the roofs of my tripod and "penthouse" ladder stand with them and they are going on 18 years now.
