sbuff
Does CVA still say to not use 300GR + bullets in sabots and no conical over 400grains?

They didn't tell me not to use them in my Apex , a lot of people shoot a saboted 300g bullet .
sbuff
I said 300+, but it states it right in your manual, do not use , same for the rest of their line up. My point, all the other manufacturers let you shoot the heavier bullets if you so choose. To me that tells you how their barrels are built . Will a CVA shoot accurately yes, will I buy one no . I'm just offering my thoughts to Biz and his dad

Plenty of people upgrade the barrel on their Thompson to a Bergara barrel because they out perform the rest.
sbuff
Do you have any proof to back that up? Biz ,I'd have your father go to a local shop and shoulder some up then choose the one he likes and fits him the best. Muzzloader.com is a good place to get from, I've spoken to the owners a time or two. As stated no ffl needed. Keep me posted. Not the case in VT. I know felons that hunt with ML. Asked the game warden about it. He said it was legal, unfortunately.
SmokeinTN
I had a Savage smokeless ML. Shot lights out. Bought it for Colorado Ml season. They outlawed smokeless ML same year. Needless to say wasn't happy.

But they are more expensive and others will kill deer just as dead for a lot less. Sako rifles don't kill any better than Savage but they sure are purty!! You ever sell that beauty? BizCT
Now Biz. Please explain to me why a self proclaimed Weatherby snob such as yourself would even look at that Muzzleloader? lol Buddy had a CVA wolf and that one was junk. They replaced it becasue it wouldn't fire every time. The Optima they replaced it with is a nice shooter but falls way short of my Encore once it is stretched past 100 yards. Whatever you settle on make sure the model has a the muzzle over bored for easy bullet starting and fast follow up shots. You will thank me later. And some sort of speed breech is nice to have. I think he got annoyed the last few years in late season with xbow seeing really nice bucks just out of range.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BizCT
Why no interest? At most I hunt 1 day in late season, so I'm fine with xbow. If anything, I'll buy a compound if xbows don't get full inclusion this year. Then I can start killing the bucks that eat acorns all October. They say nitride has superior rust prevention and a tougher finish.
