Simple pleasures in life - free dirt!

I got on the list with my local town highway department to receive free fill dirt when they are doing excavation work in the area. Yesterday they dropped off about 40-50 tons of it in my side driveway. Whoo-hoo! I've got many places I can use the fill, trail/road maintenance through the property to start with, and more available when I get this moved.

I guess I've changed. I used to get excited over a pretty girl or my favorite band coming to town. Now it just takes a big old pile of dirt!

Good Lord, don't tell the Mermaid...Those farm girls LOVE dirt..

She'd have me shoveling from now until deer season !

I Have similar piles in the lower field...got them to leave a few for the hunting camp below us too. Mr B has almost uesed all of the one theleft along the drive years ago....Handy to have around. I have a pileof pine chips composting acrossthe street from the power company.they left it 3years ago. Half the size it was and ready for the blueberries.

Nothing like a big pile of dirt to make a guy HAPPY!  We are, after all, still boys at heart.

Today I loaded/unloaded a pickup full of bark mulch in the sweltering heat..

Fortunately there is a cool oasis nearby...<<grin>>...

Funny, I get excited on garbage day.  Nothing like getting rid of all the trash and recyclable stuff.
