White Squirrels

We drove to Florida a couple weeks ago and stopped at Etowah , NC ( a suburb of Ashville ) to visit some friends . They have white squirrels that come to the feeders and they are not albinos . Legend has it that a Circus had come to town over 70 years ago and the squirrels escaped .

The squirrels were quite nervous so I took pics from the sun room through the screen .

We have a group of all black ones in the neighboring town, they are the coolest things to see/watch.

I found this guy down along Cattaraugus Creek at Sunset Bay a few years ago. No circus in town that I know of,lol.

I have never seen a white one.They do look cool.I say they look like rats but cool.

I have never seen a white squirel before. I have seen the black ones which are kind of cool. Also hunting in Illinois they have fox squirrels that look to be about 5 pounders. LOL! The first time you see one it makes you laugh.

I dont have any pictures of it but my dad does, his friend has 3 white woodchucks in their back yard that come out everyday. and i have seen several black chipmunks with white spots on my buddys land.

I saw a fox squirrel while deer hunting Ill. last fall . It was all redish color but the last 2" of its tail was pure white  & I could spot that thing a mile away running through the trees.

Man i would love a mount of a white squirrel. Wonder if i can find a population in NY during squirrel season.

DTG, a guy I hunted with in Nunda ny shot 2 white squirrels in 2 days in the same woods. He said there where others in the area.

Nice photos.  We used to have a white squirrel living on RPI campus, but nobody has seen him for a couple years.
