Guess that new gun is a shooter. Well done The shots were mostly 30yds and in. I took one shot at about 80 but missed. And had a few more chances but had a tough time gettting a clear shot. That gun is more accurate than I am out to about 60. Then it requires a lot of hold over. Probably would have done better if we just sat for a while but we decided to walk and try to stalk them. Had two that we chased round and round and they escaped. Sneaky little critters. Shotgun would have been a lot easier. But less fun.
Nomad
Moog , you inspired me to go sit a bit today too, not long but did a few wounded rabbit calls. Then took down a hang on, and shot an opossum on walk out . Stopped by landowners ,gave him some good beer, and got permission to build another hut so I can hunt in warm comfort .
chrisw
I was always surprised how many deer we would call in predator hunting, the calls seem to make them awful curious.Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk

grampy
That black squirrel is pretty cool! They are kinda rare around here. Cool looking pellet gun too! So what is your take on your first predator hunt? Don't give up! It could be entirely different on another day! They are intelligent, and can be very challenging to hunt. That to me, is what makes it so fun. And so exciting when you do connect!

Did three sets of calls from same spot in about 45 min and then moved to squirrels. I will definitely give it a go again. Try a different spot maybe or maybe late afternoon on the field edge. Hoping to get out with Treeguy soon. I am sure a little time with him would shorten the learning curve.
grampy
Yes, anytime you can go with someone with experience, it will shorten the learning curve. No doubt Treeguy will be able to fill in some blanks for ya! The first time you call in, and kill one, you'll be hooked!
Marion
No luck on Fox this morning but had fun. Took a squirrel snack home. My buddy and I were trading off the pellet gun. They scamper quick. 3 ain’t going to be much of a meal. Had a few deer hanging around too. Bedded within 75yds and never left when we were calling. Walked by them at less than 20yds and they were calm as could be. You racist you killed the black oneYou Can't Beat My Meat!!!
TreeGuy
Good thing there's no pressure on me...lol. I'm certain at least I can teach you that pred hunting requires patience and doesn't always produce fur. Dropped it off at the taxidermist and he denied that it was real... Not sure what to do with it I just threw it over the closest bridge. No worries, I'll get another.
