Deer in Nassau County, NY

If I had not seen it with my own eyes I would not have believed it. While driving home today from work with my wife, we both saw a deer and a fawn off the shoulder of the west bound lane of the Northern State Parkway less than one half mile east of the Sunnyside Boulevard exit!

Yeaaaahhh, 4 miles from my house. There are deer in Caumsett State Park in Huntington, guess its was just a matter of time that they would spread out. I know the sharp shooters had thinned out the heard years ago, but recently the town folk have given the state a hard time about killing the deer.

they are everywhere! Nassau has more deer then you know. quite a few spots on the water in Nassau higher sharp shooters to thin the herd...

There are also deer on Staten Island and in the Bronx.  When I see one walking down 5th Avenue in Manhattan there will be absolutely NO doubt left in my mind that they are masters of survival.

What kind of camo do you suppose a guy would need for city hunting? Lamp post and sidewalk pattern?

Lamp post might be a bit dangerous.  I think the dog urine scent you would eventually get on you would scare off the deer.  I think it would be best to set up inside a hot dog cart.  Have the street vendor get rid of his hot dogs and hot water and make a little window to peek thru.  When you see the deer you can just pop out of the cart and fire.

I have seen deer on the SAW MILL RIVER PKWY as far south as the Bronx many times.Some very big racks as well..

I have seen deer and turkey on the Bronx River/Sprain Pkwy Opposite the golf course and near the Electric Transmission lines of Con ED.
