Bear season changes

Was just ont he DEC site and the opening day of southern Bear season has been changed to coincide with opener of gun season. That should increase the take numebrs this year

It has been this way for a few years now in the Catskill region.  I think only you guys in the western counties had to wait another week for bear.

you are correct. I am betting there are more taken this year. I know a lot of guys who see them that opening week and then they disappear...lol

I have yet to see one in the woods, there was one hit on the thru way close to our spot last year. Its just a matter of time, bears really have made a come back in NY.

Doe, I shot one back in 1994, have seen a few in the summer months thru the years but nothing during hunting season. Maybe it will be better this year.

Last year we could of taken 4 during opening week of gun but season was closed. Getting a lot of damage from them the last 2 years. looking forward to removing a few this year i hope

I don't have to go upstate to hunt bear anymore. Dutchess county now has a bear season.

I also never saw a bear in he woods,I did find tracks one year and a lot of scat.But the bear moved on.

We’ve had one running around the farm I hunt in 7J for the past two years.  No one has seen it this summer so it must have moved on this spring.  There isn’t a season in the area, but it’s nice to see them around.

Cool, it'd be nice to get a bear in the southern zone.  I've seen them around our place in Naples, but that has always been in the spring.  Seems like they go into a parallel dimension or something once the season opens up.

This the first year for us in 5S and we have some sightings. We look forward to the season. Though I don't think many of us up/down here know what is a shooter or not.
