Hordes of deer

It's a crummy phone pic through my dirty windshield that I took on the way home last night, but this is a field that I border two sides of.

It was corn that was cut in December. 61 deer in that larger field and more on the other side of the hedgerow. Went a little past the house to look at another field and saw 32 more. 93 total within a half mile of the house (and I didn't count those to the right of the hedgerow). Our tower stand is in the hedgerow.

It's amazing that the land can support so many! And all the deer I've seen up close look very healthy this year.

I was driving through the Warsaw area two weekends ago and every field for miles was loaded with deer.  It can be an amazing sight for sure!

If I'm not mistaken, that picture was taken in DMU 8T, where it is almost impossible to get a DMP  unless you're a landowner or have preference points...Go figure.....

Apparently the DEC wants more in the whole DMU. Odds for the past 5-ish years have been low for first choice and none for second choice. None for out of staters for 5-10 years I think. Which is too bad for us as 50% of our group is from out of state.

We do get the one lonely landowner’s permit however..
