Pygmy
Geeze, Jennifer.. A meal is not a MEAL unless meat is included.. JUST KIDDING....!!!!.. Glad to hear that your family is eating healthy...I'm too old for that stuff ...I gotta eat what tastes good. Definition of a heart healthy diet....If it tastes good, SPIT IT OUT.. I am too old to worry about such things..I eat what I want. If I croak tomorrow, so be it. Why torture myself to extend my life a few months..? In your case, and for your your family, I applaud the fact that you are eating healthy. God bless you and I hope you all live a long, productive life. We do it mostly for financial and (I am whispering this part-- don't want to start a debate!) ecological reasons. It's just my husband and I. I actually really love meat! My best wishes to you and yours as well.
CNYScott
2 decent size deer cover our family. Me and three kids eat it, my wife won't touch it. We also feature venison steaks, hot dogs and sausage for the extended family Independence Day celebration, and venison chili at the office Christmas Party. Will have just enough to get us through until the freezer is re-stocked this Fall.
Deerthug
Got 2 last year. Gave us a total of about 100lbs of meat. Gave 30lbs away and froze the rest. My son going to town on the last of the venison ribs.
Forest Hunter
I got a doe last year. About half of it was turned into burger. 1/4 was roasts and the other 1/4 turned into venison steaks. We still have about a third of the burger we had. That's between my parents, me and my sister.
erussell
I usually shoot three every yr and before spring its all gone. Oh yeah that's just between my wife and I. My daughter really isn't into it unless its deer sausage or deer sticks. Nothing better than a steaming bowl of deer stew or chili on a cold January morning of ice fishing. nyslowhand
In my younger, struggling family days - we'd live on venison. Typically 3-4 a year, all cut up by my dad & myself into various cuts. Just me, so I use 1 deer made entirely into hot Italian sausage. Chili, spaghetti sauce and all those gourmet (?) box mixes with noodles or rice. Eaten a ton of venison in my life time, but could never aquire a taste for the steaks.
Cabin Fever
Eaten a ton of venison in my life time, but could never aquire a taste for the steaks. It's called "marinade" my friend!! ;D Delish!!

bushnell
Well I am usually fortunate enough to get 1 deer but the past year or two the wife has been pestering me to try to get another deer. So with the family growing I need 2 deer to get through the year. (The good news is I will be able to go hunting more)

Dakota Dog
My family will go through 4 -5 a year. My two girls will eat venison steaks any day over any beef steaks or pork.
