Lawdwaz
IF a guy was in the market for a new trail cam, looking to spend 100-150 what would be your choice? I have a Scoutguard that I have been happy with but I see some awesome pics here and mine don't compare. My model is 2 or 3 years old and I know the improvements have been great in all electronic industry. Choices?
WNYBuckHunter
For that money, Id be looking at the WGI cams, Moultries or good deals on Bushnells.
mbucks27
I would def consider the Bushnell Trophy cam. I picked one up a few months ago and i couldnt be happier with it. It does both pics and video and the video even has audio. It also does time lapse and the size is great it fits in the palm of my hand which makes for easy carrying in and out of the woods. I got mine on eaby for 149 and the still have similar deals on there now. Hope this helps. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-2011-Bushnell-8mp-Video-Trophy-Cam-Camera-119436C-/130558941725?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e65eb5a1d John

Chromeslayer
U can find last years models of cuddebacks all over the net for $110-150. Ebay has a ton. Just make sure there new and not refurbs
Dave
What ever you get make sure they use C batteries they last longer than the D batteries. At least that is what I have found to be true using the Moultrie trail cam's. I have two different models the last one was the Game Spy D 55 IR camera works great and uses c cell batteries, my other camera was more expensive and uses D cell batteries, they don't last as long. Maybe the newer ones have better technology. Dave
UpStateRedNeck
http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=10955306&cp=4406646.4413993.4414427.4414461 I just ordered another, really like my other one. Battery life has been great, and if you're worried about it being stolen the bracket and cable are good too. Definitely like this camera. I'll post some pictures later. mbucks27
I have the same wildgame cam but its black not camo. I am happy with that one too but it really doesnt compare to the Bushnell as far as size and trigger speed. Also the bushnell has the video with audio and time lapse which the wildgame cam doesnt have. Either way they are both good cams but i would give the advantage to the Bushnell from what i have seen from both of these cams being out in the field. phade
Order from Natchez...cheapest place to find a cam for most brands. They have a Bushnell TC for $139. Free shipping if you have the sticker on your catalog. I have one and just used it but I think it's reusable. Cabelas has a TC for $129 in bargain cave plus shipping that would put it at or above the Nachez price. Personally, since you mentioned pic quality (SG is middle of the road)...I'd look at Spypoint since their pic quality is probably the best for low/middle commercial units. Once I started using the video mode on my SG...I haven't switched back to pics on it...the videos are great quality and it's still ticking. The M80 by Moultrie seems nice...it's done well for me so far. BUT, it's time out is a little long, so always take three pic burst. Outside of that, it seems great...sound, time lapse option, and several pic options. The cam REACHES out at night like no other cam I've had in the sub-$200 range. I plan on using it in time lapse closer to the season and set it on video to capture sound/video at a scrape this year. I wouldn't waste time/money on WGI if you can spend over $100. WGI cams have their place. I know...I've had 8 of them. All have been warrantied once or twice. Good cam for the low-end money...but much better options are open to you if you go over that $100 mark. ***Edit...Bushnell has a 2 year warranty...that's something to take into consideration, too. Most have 1 year. Not a big deal until you need it.
Cabin Fever
Love my Bushnell Trophy cams! I bought a 5mp from Cabelas (now $129 as mentioned above and that's a great price) a couple months ago for $149. It had the run-away trigger problem. I sent it Bushnell for replacement. They sent me an upgrade to the new 2011 Bone Collector model that is 8mp and has audio with its video! NICE!! If I needed a new cam, I would jump on one of these and HOPE it had the runaway trigger problem, so I could send it back! Regardless, the 5mp models are great also! Lawdwaz
Thanks for all the ideas. I can really dig those cameras with sound! Anybody get any good audio of a buck grunting or other cool stuff?
Cabin Fever
Thanks for all the ideas. I can really dig those cameras with sound! Anybody get any good audio of a buck grunting or other cool stuff? This is the first year that the new Bushnell Trophy cams have audio. I think it will be cool, as I like to set my cams over scrapes in the fall. Having audio will add a whole new level! t_barb
Any one looking for a really good camera, try out the Scoutguard 550... It is small and one set of 8AA batteries lasts 6 months.. They are not sold at cabelas or BPS, so they are lesser known.. I have seen others on this site post pictures taken by these cameras, so would like ot get others opinions as well.. I am going on my 3rd season with them and they just keep performing.... i have one of the new Cuddebacks (Attack IR) and prefer the 550's. Video capability is fantastic as well.. Here is a link... http://scoutguard550.com/store.html
