Where’s the fun in that?
The only thing that caught my eye was the spoon/fork/knife set. I bought one of those when I was 11 and quickly realised that it was useless for cutting food as the fork can’t be used at the same time as the knife. There are light-weight utensils that lock-pack together but allow for separate use.
Anyway, looks like you’re set. Here’s hoping you get lost in the woods.

The kabar comes apart.

Silly question: why not just pack a mini Bic lighter instead of the heavier fire starters in your packs ?

TF, I think you might be confusing ignition sources with tinder sources. (This may not be 100% correct, but I'm no scientist, either.) To start a fire, you need an ignition source like a spark or a flame to light tinder, something that easily catches fire from the ignition source. You should have three different ignition sources for redundancy, e.g., lighter, strike-anywhere matches and a ferro rod. You should have enough tinder to start a few fires (or find/make your own in the woods). This could be vaseline covered cotton balls, magnesium shavings, fatwood, birch bark, dryer lint, et al.

I've never had an issue with carrying  weight on my back.I just ran out and weighed my lonewolf hang on & ladders 26lbs. add my pack it probably 30-35lbs. I think it's a p.i.t.a carrying my bow in my hand the a rifle.I picked up a crossbow[thanks billdoggie] last year and that thing seems like it's going to be a big p.i.t.a to carry, but i'm going to use it this year.

I doubt I’ll ever need a striker. I have 2 lighters, waterproof matches and last resort is steel. For tinder I have 2 kinds of premade chemical ones all packages for the purpose.

I brought this back because I couldn’t find the thread about the Garmin inreach. I went with the gpsmap 66i with the monthly plan for now. It’s a nice gps system set up like my Colorado 400. It took a little frustration to get the s.o.s and texting set up,but there customer service is great. I tried it out by texting my brother in Florida,my niece in conn. and my sister here on Long Island it takes a little long to get them but that’s ok I don’t text much when I’m hunting. The only problem I ran into was my iPhone doesn’t sync to it so I can’t use the Birdseye maps. I’m working on that. I’ll say this if your only going to use it for texting and s.o.s get the mini but if your like me and use a gps go for the gpsmap 66i it’s way a head of the other one.
